But isn't the construction of the old style armhole also different from what we see today? It's not just a matter of size, correct?

Bear with me on this folks, I'm not that familiar with the intricate details of tailoring and this will be my first bespoke suit.

Both of you are right.

Old-school tailors have seen it all: high armholes, low armholes, etc. Still, if you can, bring along a jacket with high armholes and show it to your tailor. Explain that you want this kind of armhole built into your custom suit.
