New In - Rainbow Country Santa Clara

I was lucky enough to pick up this rainbow country Santa Clara from mirror ball. The last one they had in black actually.

I must say I’m in love with this pattern. Although the sleeves fit roomier than what I am used to, I think this will be great for layering especially since there seems to be more chest ease than the Hercules while still being shorter even if you sized up one from the Hercules. Normally I’m a 40 in Hercules and went 42 with this.

This is my third or fourth experience with Shinki horsehide and the one coming from rainbow country (now that I have a new one in front of me) smells amazing. Almost like an earthy tea like smell. Hard to put into words but I can see what people mean now by the Shinki aroma. I haven’t experienced this with RMC or other jackets that use Shinki though, or at least it’s not as prominent as this one.

Personally for me, I love the drape that the triple pleat on the back creates. I think once this jacket breaks in and those sleeves start to get some tunneling, this will look even more flattering. Overall very pleased with this jacket especially considering it was around $1500 ish

The wide sleeves take getting used to, went through the same with a LW Test, but it very comfy to wear with a sweater without any sausage feeling, its really grown on me.

Love the Santa Clara only because it's just a different jacket from the more "popular" Hercules that @Mrfrown is peddling.

Love that the buckles are actually at the belt level and not at the bottom and it's a shorter jacket than the herc.

Agreed. That's one thing i forgot to mention that bothered me about the hercules. It seemed counterintuitive for a half belt to not have the buckles at the belt level

after having it for a day, i am now feeling unsure about the sleeves. Sizing down definitely would have felt tight everywhere else though. And im not sure its worth taking this to a tailor

How it looks with a mid weight sweater underneath. The sleeves definitely look better now

The cuffs have a second button, don't they? Have you tried using that to tighten them at the wrist? I still think this is perfectly fine, it is a stiff fresh new jacket, it will only look better from here and better wide sleeves than the ones where you have to peel out with a two minute effort in a sweater..

I have not tried the second button yet. I have someone willing to trade with me for their size 40. I think im going to ask for a sleeve width comparison. If its not all that different and the shoulder and chest arent far off, it might also work.

Careful there. The sleeves will be just as wide and long, the only major difference will chest and body width and I am not sure you need a size smaller in the body... It will be -2" total in the body and probably like -0.3-0.5" in the shoulder.

Sleeves that are wider in the biceps and elbows I can understand, but definitely not a fan of sleeves that are so wide in the forearm and cuff areas. Seems pointless and non-anatomical to me (although some folks do have massive forearms!).

yeah the forearm width did kinda bother me. I also don't have huge forearms so that doesn't help either.

Just did a trade today with @teacore_bug since he said his size 40 is a bit tight on him. So I will post updated fit pics with the size 40 once that arrives
