Need a daffy 'do

Help me come up with a wacky do? I'm currently in yet another murder mystery, this one is set about 1948. My character is...well, if she was contemporary I'd put flowers in her hair and rose-colored glasses.

What are some funny do's you've seen? (C'mon, what are the ones you'd never go out in public in, but make you smile?)
