Navy Carrier Pilot’s Jacket

Founded by Jeff Clyman, a Warbird pilot who started reproducing flight jackets after fans kept asking about his father's Army Air Corps jacket. Cockpit (originally Avirex) rediscovered the lost tanning process for the B-3 bomber finish, became an official USAF supplier for the A-2 flight jacket, and outfitted TopGun. Still made in the USA, still building to original military spec.

I've visited the store a few times over the years, and they produce some really interesting jackets. You'll pull one off the rack and it'll have rugged, supple leather — then the one right behind it will feel like thin cardboard. I've owned three jackets from them over the years, including this one.

The first I sold, and it's still one of my favorite leathers of all time. I tried to track that same jacket down again, but they don't produce it that way anymore. The second I still own — also one of my all-time favorites — and when I checked out the same model in store recently, the leather just didn't stack up.

And finally, this is the third. Tea core veg-tanned, stunning grain, supple, yet seems tough as nails. Another absolute standout.

As I said — a really interesting maker with a true American history behind it.

And heres the jacket-Vintage goatskin with stunning grain- Collarless take on the G-1 for a clean silhouette and a bi-swing back for complete ease of movement. 1950s-style flap pockets, and knit cuffs and waistband for the old school bomber look. Extremely comfortable, but note, this is a slim fitting jacket.

Asking 600 Shipped Conus, pictures to come.
