Musician's hats

Back in the ol' Urban Cowboy days in Houston, seems like everyone had a big furry American MaxiFelt with about 2 pounds of feathers! (we hung out at The Winchester club and Johnny Lees place in Pasadena way more than Gilleys).
We also hung out at the Old Plantation a lot before it turned into a *** bar... will just leave that there lol
I would have to go to the mills in Baytown about every 6 wks. At the end of the day the mill guys would want to start at the San Jacinto Inn on the ship channel for oysters & chicken wings. Then we would usually end up at Gilley’s.

Should still be a good show. Hopefully indoors. Not sure how many band members they had come & go thru the yrs. I think the record belongs to the Ozark Mountain Daredevils @ 13.

I caught them about 6-8 yrs. ago at the same venue I'm seeing them at in Aug. Very good show (saw them once before in the 70s). I'm still expecting a good show.

It's outside. Which is my preference in the summer, plus it's a nice, medium size pavilion. Should be fun.

A few yrs back ( ok several yrs back) I saw Ozark Mt Daredevils and Kentucky Headhunters about a month apart... Got my Inner Hillbilly fix for the year.

Crossing my fingers for ya' that OMD is still pretty solid.

Last year I went to see Pure Prairie League and was slightly dissappointed.... Some folks had singing in the same key, some couldnt stay in rythym, and their soundman must have been totally deaf. Still all-in-all it was an enjoyable and nostolgic evening once th3ey got wound up. If y'all have a favorite band or musician, go see them when theyre young

Here locally we have a really solid ZZ Top cover band performing soon and theres a strong Bob Segar cover band that comes here once or twice a year. Some of these youngsters do a good job of sounding like we remember

Pure Prairie League is from around these parts (Cincinnati). I saw them once in Cincy opening for Charlie Daniels. Wet Willie kicked off the show. Good night of music.

I'm not a drinker so, until I read this, I really couldn't have cared less. But now there's a Gilley's Saloon, Dancehall, and Bar-B-Que on the LAS VEGAS STRIP! Anyone up for a road trip?

Mickey’s dead. Could be one of his kids I suppose. Or a play on the name.

Pasadena was huge. Had an arena connected to it where he held rodeo events & boxing matches. It’s gone now.

Gilley? The Las Vegas Sun article from 1998 tells the story. The article is on their (Sun's) site. Gilley is quoted, and it also mentions Stetson hats.
