That photo is definitely not from the 70's. Early/mid-80's while he still had the long hair. The book that used this photo on its cover was published in 1985 or so.

LR always reminds me of Zappa. A portrait of Frank in the 70s,

Nice vintage western hat with bashes front and rear and Center dent.

Mike Moore Buckaroo hatters makes this type of hat all the time.
