My niece's now ex-boyfriend is a woodworker and he made the "coffin" complete with sliding lid. A company in Oakville, Ontario makes the laser-etched memorial stone.
Twist died while our new home on the farm was being designed, with build and move in months away.
My sister had an idea as we did not want her buried at what would be our former home, and the construction at the farm would render the yard a war zone. We kept her wrapped up and in a freezer! It sounds odd I know, but we were able to bury her at her new home.
Actual conversation with our real estate agent when listing our old place:
"So for open houses and agent visits, you have a cat if I recall. Any special instructions?"
Me blurting out - "Oh, she's kept in the freezer".
Agent - "Um, I think that may be illegal"!
Explanation given...

Doesn't sound odd at all to me. Funerary professionals preserve human remains until burial by keeping them refrigerated, so it was a practical solution to the problem.
To you and everyone else here who has ever lost a furry, feathered, or scaled family member, you have my sincere sympathies for your loss(es).

His name is Moose, and he's a rottweiler/****hound mix. To say I've gotten attached to him would be an understatement:

In my province of Ontario, landlord and tenant law prohibits the outright ban on pets in apartments and other rental properties. Numbers and where appropriate size may be limited. Sad your friend had to give up!
