Women's wallets didn't really become popular until the late thirties -- they were usually billfold-style, in colored leathers, and sometimes had appliqued decorations. There'd usually be an integrated snap-pouch for change, and sometimes a snap-shut compartment containing celluloid windows for cards and photos. Amity and Lady Buxton were the most common manufacturers.

Women didn't carry anywhere near as much wallet junk as men -- other than photos, there might be a social security card, a drivers' license, a Red Cross card, and maybe a club membership or two. About the only credit card they'd be likely to carry would be a gasoline card -- which were made of ordinary paper, not plastic, so they didn't take up much space.
