I have a couple around that I wound up with over the years, but they're only about 36" and I want something much longer.

I probably Moreno wool
Preferably made in the US
And hopefully under $100, but I don't really know what Scarfs tend to cost.

Any suggestions would be great

They're slightly over the price you're looking for, but WeatherWool sells two different ones - I just got one of their beanies, and the wool they use is amazing!

I ended up finding a maker on Etsy called VobelleCo who knits merino scarves here in the US, and their 7"x74" scarves are reasonably priced at $50 so I decided to try one out.
They have a bunch of color options, and I chose the green.

It's pretty much exactly what I was looking for at the price I had in mind, so hopefully the quality is good.

Swing by an old folks home in your area; they'll have something knitted on display and whomever you see in attendance can point you in the direction of the knit queen. She has no money and nothing to spend it on anyway. She was employed when people made a buck an hour and doesn't expect big money for a scarf.. Bring her the yarn you like and let her know there's fifty bucks in it. Win / win.

Knitting machines are fairly inexpensive and some of the old broads you know with craft skills likely have one. I along w/ my daughter own a whse and my side of it has cars, trucks and motorcycles. Hers has thousands of skeins of yarn. It might surprise you how many people like to knit.

Not 145 bucks nice for me haha
I don't think I could bring myself to spend that much on a scarf either.
Maybe if every other scarf available was short and made of synthetic fleece and spending $145 was the only way to get a usably long scarf made of wool, but that's the only way

Very interesting topic. My grandmother had a knitting machine and made anything you could think of with it. My other Grandmother knit by hand. My brother also knits by hand and designs his own patterns. Quite a few men are knitters. A local pipefitter was legendary for the items he made.
Look for a knitting club in your area to hook up with the experts. Knit and woven are both good options.
The weatherwool fabric is lovely and has zero itch. I have a few items. I do not have the new hat and scarf items.
If you are looking for a warm scarf get Possum wool. It is 55% warmer than Merino wool. If you want lightweight then cashmere is nice.
David Morgan the hat company has both scarf and gloves in Possum. Also called opossum. I have the gloves.

I prefer cashmere over wool scarf. Wool seems itchy to me.

When I shopped for scarf, I went to Nordstrom Rack and bought an English Laundry cashmere scarf for $12-25. I barely use it though.

I also bought a cashmere scarf for around $20 when I went to India. I also barely use that one.
