Thanks y’all for sharing my excitement. I would say…I certainly have worn more ridiculous things in public so the fringe isn’t such a barrier. However this is one jacket I probably wouldn’t wear to the park with my kids. Probably.

@handymike yes I could see something ineffable being lost with the de-fringement.

I’d like to reiterate you and @Gamma68 weren’t kidding about the leather- it’s really nice.

@Monitor yeah it is bigger in pretty much every dimension than I’d like, but above all the length is just way more than I can handle.

With soft tape I measured

Chest 22.5-23
Shoulder 19
Waist 20.5
Hem 21
Front to zip 21
Front to hem 24
Sleeve straight 26.5
Sleeve around curve 28
Length from BOC 27

Which are all bigger/longer than what the seller provided. The width dimensions kinda push the limit of what I’d accept. Length, however is another story.

The sleeves are so long on me that when I push them up my wrist they cause the shoulder to push up and create wild wrinkles up top.

The question is whether shortening the sleeves (and likely the body up to the zipper base) would be effective in making this wearable for me, or would just be throwing good money after bad. I kinda think it would help but not sure. Btw Damon quoted about $350 for the work.

I tip my hat to you sir. In my minds eye I could rock the Hell out of a fringed jacket like this and want to but when reality sets in I couldn't make it out the door or past my wife. Like others I lack big enough huevos but thanks to the TFL I think they have grown some.

Total Rockstar! The jacket looked very cool in the action shots. I think it can work because all I saw was fringe and didn't notice the length at first. I like it how it's grey core so gives the whole thing more depth instead just black struck through. Very cool

There are things I have not tried YET, and then there are things I will NEVER try. I haven't YET tried a cross-zip, but I might. I haven't yet flown into space but, at the current pace of technological advancement, I might before I die. On the other hand, I can confidently say that I will never wear a fully fringed leather jacket. Simply put , I lack the huevos. Same goes for Grizzly jackets. I genuinely appreciate the craftsmanship and salute those with the moxie, but that style also falls soundly in the never category.

One of the great attributes of this community is the incredible diversity of aesthetic preferences. Some like moto jackets, others prefer military. Some like fringes, others prefer car coats. TFL is the only place I am aware of where we can come together as a community and speak honestly with other rogue deviants about our passion without judgment.

So who will be first to try one of the more avant garde brands -- e.g., MA+ or Guidi. I must admit that I like a few of the styles, but I am not there yet (and my time may have passed).

I feel like Monitor has shared much indicating he would love to try some of the wilder brands but has been constricted (understandably) by funds…personally I know I’m way out of date on the cutting edge but am certainly intrigued

Limited funds are a blessing in disguise when it comes to designer brands as you get to pick the pieces that you really like, and not just wanna try out & experiment with to see if you like it or not. Plus for that very same reason, everything will eventually appear on Grailed or somewhere at a lower price point - Not always lower, though as some pieces triple in value as times goes by (YSL 2013 leather jackets, for instance).

This is something I almost bought right away but then realized I had no idea how to wear it or if I'd even want to wear it, against my motorcycle jackets. But it's so nice.

Avant garde stuff is pretty much all I've been looking at online for the past few years, aside from a very few vintage leather jackets still remaining in my search and I can tell you, most of it isn't even nearly as out there as some of the stuff we see here, on TFL. Though I believe this is where the artistry of the designer enters the play, through which the clothes you wear appear like something "regular" at a first glance, so you won't feel like a clown. Knowing what you wear, the artistic aspect of it, belonging only to you.

Or at least that's how it is with the designers that I like. On the other hand, you've got Rick Owens that everyone loves and while I too think he's a super nice dude, most of that stuff he comes up with is pretty... Ugh.

Designer brands, the good ones, are more about silhouette, shape (not fit per se) and materials while ones we talk about here are primarily about details. And quality of material but you won't see an MA+ piece in multiple color/material choices but only one that the designer chose for this particular piece. Which is what I love about it, too.

9/10 people wouldn't have even notice this leather jacket as something , though all 10 would immediately notice how well it fits a wearer. Realistically speaking, any Grizzly is a carnival main attraction in comparison.

In short, you'd love it!

@Mrfrown how does the jacket fit through the body? It looks slightly big in the shoulders, but I don't know if that's just your pose!

I'd be tempted to leave the body as is, but I like longer café racers and I think it looks good as is, but shorten the sleeves. I would also see if you could get the waist pulled in slightly, as there seems to be a little excess leather around the top of the pockets.

I keep on having bad thoughts about a fringed jacket, but if I got one it'd probably be more sedate, like the Aero Leathers Highwayman Virginian.

I regret cutting off my fringe in a way, but trimming it about 1/2 way would have been a reasonable solution to my wannabe rockstar issues. Still, it is a strong look- one I was only comfortable showing off here. Once de-fringed, I haven’t worn it once...and I live with the shame of “ruining” it.

If you use one of their boxes, yes. But the pricing seems to have gone up for non—USPS boxes. Maybe I’m crazy, probably am, but I was shocked at the price when I shipped out a jacket in a box I had last week. I used FedEx Home instead.

USPS raised their prices at the beginning of the month effective through Christmas due to increased volume for the holidays. A week or two later they also announced that delivery would be slower by 1-3 days due to cutbacks. So the only thing crazy is that you're paying more for ****pier service.

I don’t see as many Himels here as I do on Instagram, and there are some seriously nice fitting jackets y’all turn out.

When I read the leathers section in your site I was impressed by the specificity (drum dyed, light pigment, medium-hard pigment) but also confused by some repetition between descriptions (mimosa, wrinkles and mold to wearer). Looking through it, trying to easily sort the leathers into categories- tanning process, dying process, weights, etc - isn’t straightforward. And of course there will be similarities across the leathers- they are all leather after all.

In the end, it’s ad copy and I get that. It really reminds me of the Thurston descriptions - “amazing grain and character right out of the box!” Consider leather descriptions put out by Langlitz- they’re non existent as far as I can tell? So trying to get some good info out there while not confusing potential buyers is a balancing act. And it can hide a much deeper background process and knowledge.

Is the “Learn About Our Leather” page something you have spent a lot of time nailing down the way you want? Or is it more like “it’s good enough for now let’s move on”

Well as I am one person, writing up little things here and there and assembling a website, it would be next to impossible for me to achieve complete clarity and consistency...I remember some freakout in the past regarding full grain and top grain....I used to read tanning books pre 20 century....there is rarely absolutely consistent description of any tanning process, as like trying to standardize wine making descriptions, a vineyard would have one unique description of each vintage and each year....there is faith involved in leather descriptions....I spend a whack of time in my tanneries, small producers doing it ethically and environmentally sound practice from as regular supply chains as they can manage trying to produce consistent products in an inconsistent world. So my customers have faith in my descriptions, experience and videos, blogs, social media.....i generate quite a lot of information for one guy trying to make a living making a couple hundred jackets custom and now other stuff...either you are on board or not I suppose, 99 % of my customers are not just happy they are ecstatic. The trolls will troll, either because they have a different tribe, don't want to spend the money or work for another brand....I never in ten years get hate mail, I have had five fingers worth of unhappy in ten years....that is a mark of success. Regarding new styles, I have a hard time keeping up with the old ones....nevermind the unwarranted few that seem to imagine themselves designers or historians writing critiques of the current lineup. That being said, I have multiple projects underway to attempt to get my message and my brand growing and changing so just pay attention to my personal and business social media and the message will form organically as they say....ramble done

Laying around feeling puny today, bought a Black Suede Trucker size 44 on ebay. I've seen others in black suede but never the right opportunity to get one.

The smooth leather collar is the Icing on the Cake. Under $100 shipped and taxed.

I'm thinking this is going to be very nice in fit and finish.
