Himel Bros. Avro in Black Shinki Horsehide – Size 44

Here is my Himel Bros. Avro in black Shinki horsehide.

The Avro is a distinctive take on the classic double rider, with its curved front panel, unusual pocket arrangement, and multi-panel back. There is a lot of detail, but it looks surprisingly balanced when worn.

The Shinki horsehide has a smooth surface, natural grain, and a subtle sheen. It is already fairly comfortable and should develop nicely with wear.

This is a size 44, but it is not particularly roomy by North American standards. The fit feels closer to a Japanese jacket—compact, trim, and best suited to a T-shirt or light shirt underneath. The short length also works well with high-rise denim.

A distinctive design, but much easier to wear than it may appear.

Very nice.

I have long viewed the Avro as one of the most attractive Bike-designs in the market. The half-belt pattern creates a nice silhoutte, IMO.

I have had a few Himel jackets over the years and never had issues in my dealings with him. Also, the jackets always turned out great (The "Imperial" is still the nicest, casual wearing HB in the market, me thinks).
However, he made some questionable statements on social medias regarding jackets he obviously messed-up, and at the prices he charges I find it hard to take this sort of changes these days.
Sometimes I still lust after a "Heron" in his yellow-ish moose-hide of his.

I completely agree with you. The prices are definitely too high to just pull the trigger easily. But it's also true that he's a maker who has produced so many amazing jackets like the Avro, Heron, and Chevalier.
