Indy Resistol and Hawaiian Shirt
Aloha Gents! All you guys are looking great. I posted this in another thread but I'll post it here as well. I'm wearing my recently reshaped "Indy" 4X Resistol with one of my Hawaiian shirts....The Resisitol used to be a Western Hat and had a pretty noticeable 6 inch tapered open crown...I was able to get a lot of the taper out but obviously not all of it. I tacked on a new hat ribbon, put my liner back in and I'm good to go!....(the hat was originally too big for me...so while wetting down my hat for reshaping I wasn't concerned about getting my sweat band wet...after my hat air dried for a good while I turned my sweat inside out and hit it with a hair dryer...it shrunk up to a perfect fit)!

maduro 5, g.durand, ManofKent, mikespens, thanks guys. I appreciate your comments....This hat originally had one heck of a taper to the crown. I was able to get a lot of it out by wetting down the hat and stretching it over a Sherwin Williams paint can. Obviously I didn't get all the taper out which limited me to putting a C-Crown crease in the hat instead of the IJ Center Dent which I would have preferred...Given my limited skill set and what I had to work with, I guess I'm fairly happy with the way it turned out...on the otherhand, I would send my hats out to a skilled hatter for more involved projects.

Lando, is the pattern dyed in or actually different bits sewn like a quilt? Some real handy work if it is like a quilt.

I went to a Greek catered dinner party Sat night in this 100% cotton, made in Hawaii Reyn Spooner. More of an Atomic/Tiki pattern. Lid is a Stetson Whippet.

Straw fedoras and Hawaiian shirts go well together.
It's actually all little silk squares from a few different shirts all sown together. Label just says Travelsmith, so who knows who they had make it for them. It's a fun shirt though.

Welcome to the Lounge hg1. If you browse this thread you'll see plenty of just that and in fact straw is my preferred MO for Hawaiian shirts.
Amazing Lando, and silk to boot. Never thought of silk as wash'n wear and thought of Travelsmith as offering easy to maintain travel clothing. Suppose it makes sense though since silk can be hand washed and hung to dry while on the road. Personally, I'm glad there are dry clean shops in the modern world.
