Being an XL, it's tough to find vintage things in my size, in general.
There is a certain parity with gambling and the goodwill type stores. Just as there are people that are more lucky than others at the casino there are those that are more lucky at goodwill, Salvation Army, flea markets, yard sales and the like. There are people that have the deal finding them instead of vice a versa.

The difference with goodwill shopping is that your value increases over time, not decreases as in gambling. The key to increasing your luck is persistence
The other point is that you bad luck is not a zero sum game and your temporary bad luck helps out someone less fortunate unlike gambling which actually increases human misery... no es verdad?
