Hi Ladies,

Anyone have any good e-sources for buying simple to ornate purse parts - handles, frames, etc? Hopefully not too expensive :)

Thanks!

I know that they have some cute handles at JoAnn's.

I bought a pair and made a customized lunch bag (canvas bag, sequined kitty applique) for a friend's birthday recently. Super cute!

This is the pair of handles that I'm going to buy for myself:

They look like they have confetti in the handles. I just need to find the right fabric to go with them.

Have you thought about going to thrift stores & buying bags to take apart?

Yes, I have :) Great idea!

Thanks, all - I go to Joann's all the time, and I'll have to check our etsy more and the u-handbag site. Ya'll rock, as usual!

But the tools...

I have several dead vintage handbags I would love to take apart and redo, but I can't find the proper tool to unclamp the frame from the fabric then reclamp it onto new fabric. That may be a bit too specialized - even that excellent u handbag link above has no tools. But they have great frames! The kind you can sew to the bag.

Can you post a picture of the type of thing you are trying to unclamp and reclamp? I think I know what you're talking about, but I could be totally wrong.

If you are trying to repair a bag with beading, I recommend Fire Mountain gems for their selection of beads: http://www.firemountaingems.com/?navsrc=1 They are very helpful.

This site has the tools for removing and reclamping those handbag frames. Very expensive. http://www.cobblersupplies.com/servlet/Categories
