Rudie, i'm often thinking: will i ever have stuff for sale ? and i'd like to one day, especially as i'm currently sick of my present job and would love to get into something else as i get older. as for the present moment, if someone offered me £1.5K to make them a suit i'd probably take them up on it.

There are probably quite a number people out there willing to pay that sum. Even I, without much publicity (no effort at all, actually) have had a couple of people contact me, interested in paying around the $1000-mark for a suit.

Hah! I can imagine that. I often have this ideas and if I would be able to bring them to life I would be very happy abut it too.

That's quite some news here. I am sure even at that price in £ you will find your costumers since the stuff you make is one of a kind.

Sure I will. Even if at that price level it is half-charitable, considering the general price level in Norway. I am already living relatively comfortably on a student loan which puts me at about 30% of the median income (it isn't really an income, but still), so whatever money I can earn from what is really a hobby of mine is an added bonus.

It is Winter here in Australia (yes we have winter here).

My UGG boot slippers have disintegrated into dust (literally) after just one year of use. This is the second pair of ugg boots which I have worn out, in two years. Despite the fact that I only wear them for five or six months in a 12-month cycle.

I refused to waste even more money buying more slippers that would doubtless go the same way as the previous two pairs, at exactly the same speed. So, using the busted slippers, I managed to fashion a pair of homemade ones for myself...



The buttons are purely decorative. A measuring miscalculation meant that I had extra fabric left over. So I pinched them and folded them down to make them fit better. Then, I sewed the buttons on to hide the thread. Originally they weren't going to have heels, but I decided that it might make them fit better, so I fashioned them out and sewed them on. They do what I need them to - Keep my feet warm, and be comfortable.

They're also excellent for sliding around on smooth floors. And they fit surprisingly well, considering this is the first time I've made shoes of any kind...

Nice work, I often do a quick search for those machines as I'd like to do some military patches using chain stitch. Is it a difficult process? This thread will certainly prompt me to go forward with the idea after seeing your results. I'd appreciate any direction you could point me to get started.
