I contacted the seller on the chance that this tagged 42 has a 23" pit-pit as some do, but no luck....

That pic can be deceiving. If you completely flatten the leather, you could add about an inch to the measurement. I got tricked once into thinking a jacket would fit me when it turned out to be a size too big.

Goat? The leather on one of my Highwayman looks just like this, and it also has the black liner like this one. Feels nothing like my yellow lined Highwayman so I always wondered if it's goat.

I believe it's steer. My Bates CR has graining just like that. Bates is pretty no frills on the leathers you can select, but they make a great-fitting jacket IMO.

That is a California Sportswear jacket. Looks great, but the price does not. I love original collars, but the CSC collars are not the best. They often look good until you get them home.

Messaged the seller. First she said she could meet this evening but now is pushing it back to tomorrow.
