The older HH excelled jackets are great. Once they hit the 60’s era, not so much. Many of them are that leather shop type painted plastic coated “leather”. Good from afar but far from good. This one almost got me.

Once you zoom in. You see it’s NFG.

I proxied this one for @Monitor , I think it's 60s steerhide. I was quite surprised how nice it actually was. Great fit / pattern too.

But then I bought this one which I think is from the same era as the one above. Difference is night and day. (It had the plastic leather look and feel)

Schaefer Outfitters Moving Sale-One of the relative few US companies still making clothing in the US. I own a lot of stuff from them and the quality is very good. Their clothes often run one size large. Larger sizes are sold out but I see a fair number of smalls. Even at full price, their clothing is a good value.

This cyclist is looking really nice. Fermeture Eclair. Some undone stitching, but it can be corrected. Hard to decide.

for Mother's Day gift ideas...Bill Keitel has been working leather for over 50 years. His shop is in Minnesota. Unfortunately, he does not do leather jackets. But he makes some incredible other stuff. The quality is fantastic and pricing is very reasonable.

A family member owns the 2-strap purse and affectionately calls it "the tank." The graining is amazing. If you sign up for emails, he periodically sends coupons. I have no personal connection...just been a customer for many years and like supporting small businesses.
