I ended and started more than one ride at that station in the early '70s. Back then it was in an insalubrious neighborhood. Now the facade remains, but a new office building was built behind and above it.

So I’ve read. There was a successful campaign to save most of the structure, which now serves as an entrance to the office tower behind it.
Not an ideal outcome, but far better than complete demolition.

Old deco airport terminals are deserving of their own thread. Many an original air passenger terminal remains, but is buried under the numerous additions built over the ensuing decades. And very often when an all-new airport is built the old one is demolished and the hundreds of acres it occupied is redeveloped.
