Dinerman, I've seen a lot of Frye boots over the years but this may be the first time I've seen that model. Nice find on the boot bag.

Looking to get my old Alberta Boots resoled. Looks like they offer double leather soles as an option as well as topy soles (rubber over the leather) wonder if it's worth while? Opinions? Remember in Alberta we get snow for five to six months of the year. Rubber on the soles may be worth it. That's the reason I stick with my blundstones in winter.

Because in Portugal the sidewalks are stone, it gets very slippery some times and at some angles that almost fall a couple of times so I put rubber on my soles.

I had Tres Outlaws resole with the half-rubber sole these

boots after I bought them at a store. My intention was to ride my motorcycle with them. Well, I never did and both bikes are now gone, but the thin rubber sole does provide more surety and even some cushion effect. However, it does NOT provide any serious protection in snow or even heavy rain....the boots themselves still get cold and wet (and damaged).

I have a pair of elephants I bought used that had been resoled with a hefty rubber sole....and they are really clunky now. I think that's why they went on eBay, unworn after resoling. But they only provide protection against ground water, not deep snow, etc. I'd stay with dedicated winter boots.

Jesse Bogle boots with a smooth ostrich vamp except for the area of the turn at the tounge with full quill heel counters. Kangaroo tops with a single row of blue stitching and some neat cording on the tops.

If I've mentioned this before I apologize, Bogle was a Phoenix, AZ bootmaker who retired in 1997 and died in 2003. He was renowned for making really tough boots with a lot of detail into the finish. You look at the bottom (sole) of his boots and there is no evidence of ****ing, though they are ****ed. I have three pair of his boots. There is a pair of snakeskin boots made by him listed on eprey for $899.00. I wish them luck.

These are the only ones I have -- Dan Post calfskin. My wife bought them for me new in 1983, I wore them a lot and then stopped wearing them and stored them badly. Dug them out last summer and they have a few more miles on them.

I would like to get more. Been eyeballing some '50s era Acme cut-outs ...
