This is an odd turn, of events, it feels like when a cool band goes mainstream and now a show is filled with amateurs who don’t like the music like the original fans

Is there a new Moderator that is super strict???

A classified post I made a month or so ago for one of my leather jackets was just taken down. I've been a long time member but not really posting much. I had posted and sold a jacket back in 2016. Back then i don't think there was a 20 messages rule. On my most recent post I did make sure to adhere to the rule of having 20 "messages" before I posted making it a point to be a more "active" member and waited until i had enough messages to do so. Today I posted on my ad the weight and dimensions of the jacket packaged up and provided my zip code so anyone interested could estimate shipping. That post was immediatly deleted and shortly afterwards my entire post/thread was deleted... I just check my profile and also somehow, I think the number of my messages has decreased. My messages have never been very high but i know there were more than in the 20's which is what it is currently showing. I think one of the moderators deleted some of my messages?maybe i'm wrong.... Anyone else had an issue like this?

I think you haven't read the rule close enough. It is 20 messages in the forums other than Classifieds (Open Forums). These need to be contributing messages, not just a comment to build one's post count. Most of your messages are in the Classifieds section. No one has been a moderator for less than 5+ years. So, no, there are no new moderators. You just don't have the requisite 20 messages–I just counted, you have eight.

My favorite was from a snowflake who stated they had a "few" items to sell. They then racked up their post count with one word posts and responding to a thread where someone was looking for an item with "I don't have one."

Not surprisingly, their "few" items have chewed up a bunch of the classifieds with regular bumps.

Who'da thunk?
The certain ‘snowflake’ who initially said they only had 2-3 things to sell appears to be have a little trouble counting as they are now up to around 30 posts for different items they are selling.

Because the Lounge Classifieds have none of the safeguards found on sites such as eBay and it totally relies on trust you do have to be extra cautious.
Obviously everyone needs to make their own judgement but before entering into any transaction I’d certainly be asking myself why should I trust, or even want to trade with, those who have shown they are devious enough to try and cheat their way around the ‘20 Posts in the Open Forums’ rule.
Or proved they have no consideration for others because they believe it perfectly acceptable to mass bump many separate listings within minutes.
Or even tried to list items for sale under several different Usernames because their posts were being removed for mis-use of the forum.

So much CL drama lately. Not directed exclusively at the OP but imho people shouldn’t be getting salty about anything TFL related. This is a free member operated site. It is a privilege, not a right and the exit door is always open
We're all here because we're into this stuff, and I don't think anybody needs to be shown the door because they speak up about something that isn't working. You're right that participation here is a privilege, but like all privileges, it comes with the responsibility to take an interest and speak up if you feel something is bad for the site.

CL was fine before the shakeup. The changes are demonstrably bad for CL (it's already harder to find stuff), and ultimately, will be bad for the site as a whole. I enjoy posting in discussion topics, but I also enjoy using CL... and I am under no illusions as to which keeps the lights on here. While trying to post on this thread, I ran into the "oops" page twice, which at this point, is just part of the FL experience. Site maintenance happens when ad revenue happens, and CL is the largest generator of that.

I strongly encourage the decision-makers here to reevaluate the changes to CL. Whether the discussion topic rule of no bumps was ever intended to apply to CL or not, the fact is that reasonable bumps have been part of CL forever. They make finding available listings easy and create a tone of bustle and activity that encourages traffic. When excessive bumps from some newer members briefly became an issue a while back, CL self-policed, a thread was created, and everybody agreed that a bump every week was reasonable... mods were in that discussion. The newer members respected the forum's stance, and everything has been fine since then. After the no bumping rule started to be enforced in CL a week or so ago, another thread has popped up again championing the once-a-week community-created policy.

I think most members here who enjoy both the discussion topics and buying/listing on CL are totally in favor of CL privileges only being offered to members who are actively engaged in the discussion topics as well. It would keep the site a discussion-first space and not a de-facto sales site, and also curb ****mers. Personally, I'd even be down for some sort of monthly posting quota that must be met, and community-policing of anyone trying to get around that by just throwing up twenty monosyllabic posts on one day of the month. If we need to take more steps to ensure CL remains a true enthusiast digital swap-meet, I think most members are all for it. But enforcing a no bumps policy that has never been part of CL before is not the way to do that.

There are other sites out there, usually older ones, most too buggy to use, that do not allow any kind of bumping on their CL section either. Searching for anything is a nightmare. Sellers list and forget. If you find something you have to check to see if it's available, and ask for new pics if it's been a while... It's awful. They get no traffic, generate no revenue, and their site looks like it. They are the online equivalent of some derelict abandoned ship drifting around the ocean, unoccupied but for a few ghostly sailors.

There but for those who'd speak up against this goes FL...

I simply do not understand why it is so tragic to limit to one bump a week unless at least a 10% price drop and consolidate listings for more than a handful of listings.

When I see the same person posting 10-20 individual items and bumping them often, I make a mental note not to buy from them.
