Are you referring to the style (with lapel piping) or the fact that he's actually wearing one?seems a bit antiquated

I like it. It does look very Edwardian to me, possibly tailored pre or during WW1. I should have thought it was better suited to something more funerary than a birthday celebration, but it certainly appeals to the goth in me.
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style.
They're not dressed for a birthday celebration, they're dressed to receive the Emire of Qatar.
I wouldn't have thought this was a hand-me-down. The coat is the same one he wore for his wedding.
Ah, I thought is was for Phil's recent birthday hoo-hah (to which the gag on the PE cover refers) - I don't follow the Windsors, so I missed the coverage of that particular event.
BTW, are they standing on the same level in that photo?I always had the impression Charles was quite tall, but there he doesn't look much taller than his father (who is almost as tiny as the queen).

Not really. Favourbrook's braid trimmed morning coats are a big seller for them.
