Brim Up or down

Hi all. What’s the score with brim up or down on fedoras? I have two 1940s stetsons which is feels almost sacrilege to wear brim up but my new Stetson I can’t decide.

Far be it for me to tell anyone how to wear a hat or hat brim, but if you want some advice hat maker, Bellissimo, suggests the following:

No rules, or at least you get to make them. Wear the hat as it suits your mood. Sometimes up, sometimes down......it all depends on my mood, and time/place.

Incredible how the two pictures convey, or perhaps inspire, different sides of you. The first appearing more pensive and exploratory, while the second seems more extemporaneous and some fatigue though this may be from the increased tilt angle across your brow.

My personal take, you wear both well and the hat looks great even with a casual outfit. A more polarizing comparison might be achieved with the brim down by reducing its tilt angle to parallel with your brow.

Brim-up opens up your face and makes you seem more approachable. Brim down hides your face and makes you seem more distant.

I've always been a brim-down guy myself. I've not cared for the brim up look on any of my felt hats (porkies aside - I vary with those). Though this Summer I picked up a pair of Stetson Stratoliners in straw, and I do find that while I habitually wear those down at the front, I also quite like how they look brim-up. I think maybe it's a 'Western hat' thing, maybe to some extent just what I've seen as 'normal' with those hats?

I agree with belfastboy, Wear the hat as it suits your mood. I've been sporting my stetson pinnacle most of the time with the brim snapped up and it does look pretty cool! Which brings up a question about the Stetson Pinnacle, does anyone know when it first came out and when it was discontinued? Just curious.
