They are both really nice. I do not think we have any "real" bow ties here, I think even the older ones are pre tied ones.....have a few that have been "converted" similar to your ties, but....made from shirts! Nothing as nice as what you have here....those are really super nice.

Ah, looks like you've got an example of a mid-50s Diamond. Now these seem to be able to take the tighter pulls, at least from what I've seen on my tie.

Also, perhaps you should try to make vintage-style clip-ons rather than the pre-tied variations; the vintage clip-on, especially the diamond point, looks much more realistic, but is a bit trickier to make. You may also want to consider using more "modern" ties (late 1960s-present) or beat-up vintage ties for your projects, as not many people are going to collect the "modern" ones in the future as much as our beloved rayons.

Oh, I don't make my regular ties into bow ties permanently. This was just to show how it can look. I untied it afterwards.

I got this one in Portland yesterday at Rays Ragtime. He said they are getting hard to find as they are becoming more popular again. He wouldn't negotiate on the price at all. I just put it on with a regular shirt to see how it looked tied. It is hard to find a nice self tie with a design I like. This one appealed to me.

I got this one in the mail today and this is what it looks like tied. I have the one end out a little far in the pic. I'm still getting the hand of tying them. But it is an easy adjustment to pull it back in a little.

Thank you! These clips are meant to be clipped onto a collar stud (for detachable collars). And then those wings go under your collar to keep everything in place and upright.

I got this tie in the mail today and found it has the original sticker on it. I doubt it was ever worn.
