I recently ate at a restaurant called the sea captain's house, and it was filled with all kinds of sea captain decor and kitsch.

For some reason this guy reminds me of John Payne (The Restless *** on TV, and in Miracle on 34th Street). Older, and with a mustache.

I never really understood the Victorian fascination with the art of pets & other animals in human situations. It must have had something to do with the advent of taxidermy.

One of my favorite artists and one of my all-time favorite paintings. John Singer Sargent hits everything just right (for me) in this one.
