any japanese doll experts?

I found this thing for $5, it's about 9" high and the face feels like porcelain, I tried google searches but no luck...what is it?

According to my wife,Japanese but no expert,it is a Himedaruma.Translated,it's a decorative ornament,usually of a prince although this one looks very young.They are generally displayed with a princess as a couple.

It looks quite aged so I suppose it to be a tourist piece from the 60's or so...onto the stall it goes and we'll see what happens
