1930s waistcoat

[Two Types]

This interests me - it looks at first glance like a formal waistcoat, yet is pinstriped.

I'm thinking, is this from one of those lovely mid 1930s suits with the very flash waistcoats? Like the one from this suit worn by Sonnie Hale in The Gaunt Stranger (1938):
