48 inches for a regular cut shirt aren't too much. More like a M-L. And the collar doesn't look to wide.

Yes, I know, that's why I won't be buying it. That "6" must mean something, but what??

It has a 48" chest, but many of my 1940s British shirts with 14.5" collars have similarly large chest measurements.

I figured that the the chest size is also the same as on my M sized shirts with 16 inch collars.
Hopefully the seller responds to my question on collar and sleeve size.

As to the "6"... a internet search yielded the information that there are "Sport sizes", where a 6 would be a M or EU 50 / US 40.[huh]

yes, I have quite a few vintage shirts with the numeric (1-8) sizing. The ones that fit me (14.5-15 collar) tend to be marked "4" or "5".
