Iron heart has a type 3 with hand warmer pockets and I think it’s below 2k also, it’s worth taking a look

I live in Denmark, and shipping from San Francisco seems expensive. In terms of Johnson leathers.

I was thinking that maybe, if I gave Thedi some bigger measurements than my actual measurements, it would come out closer what I want?
Thedi's works seem so nice, I really want some of his, so I was hoping this would work, or maybe asking him if he can make it so I can layer a sweater underneath?

Do you have any advise in terms of sizing like that, or is it a complete no-go?

Aero absolutely won't do hand warmers on their type 3 truckers, because that design is from the 70's, and they draw their line at designs from the 60's, I think. I tried texting them and they refused. Many others here have had the same experience...

Well I don't care about how "accurate" to a time period a jacket is, I care about the quality and the comfort. I don't think it ruins the look, it just makes the jacket more comfortable.
There is no reason for you to refuse to add hand warmers, just because the design 60 years ago didn't have them but the one a little later did.
I bet you would be willing to add hand warmer pockets if Levi's never added hand warmers to their design ever.

I'm sorry if I read as mad in this text, I had just been so excited thinking I could get this jacket from Aero, saving up my money and stupidly thinking that hand warmer pockets was such a small changes, that a company so great as Aero must be able to add it in, but then I email you and find out you refuse to do it, and for such a dumb reason as well.

And yes, your blousy fit of this jacket DOES look like the best version of this type of jacket, which just makes it even more of a shame that you won't make such a small change, because of an "arbitrary" boundary that you've set, even though so many people want it.

Thank you for the reply, I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound mean. I hope you have a great day!
I am afraid you don't get the point of this Makers....Fot them, and I agree 100%, it's a matter of reputation: you don't just sell toothpaste, you place your name on the market through a jacket...so you want every single product to be true to the brand's heritage. The fact that you "don't care how accurate to a time period a jacket is" shows me that you simply are asking the wrong questions to the wrong guys: it's not their fault, my friend, it's yours, as "accuracy" for many makers is the most important driver. Sorry to speak frankly and all the best luck for your serch, I am sure that you will succeed somehow

I honestly wouldn’t recommend that as a strategy. I am the pattern maker of Satyr Leather, Germany. A relaxed fit still needs to stay in balance proportionally. If you intentionally give body measurements that are too large, it also throws off things like shoulder slope, shoulder-to-shoulder width, armhole depth, and even the neck opening.

The result usually doesn’t look naturally relaxed or easy to layer — it just starts looking oversized and “off” structurally.

I think the better approach with Thedi would be to tell him directly that you want room for layering, for example a medium-weight sweater underneath. A good maker can account for that while still keeping the jacket balanced overall.

And yes, I completely understand your frustration with Aero. They’re very strict about historical accuracy on certain models, especially the Type 3 truckers. You’re definitely not the first person they’ve refused on the handwarmer pocket request.

The Vanson Maverick is a great jacket and they will do custom. Even with custom and shipping to Denmark you will be well below your budget and will be able to sell it on when you want something new.
