Help me find the best brand to make my leather jacket

I've been looking a lot lately, Aero, Thedi, Johnson leathers, Schott, and I don't know what is best.

I need a type 3 trucker leather jacket.

I want it loose fitting like pic related, but with hand warmer pockets

Aero won't make hand warmer pockets, so they're out of the question.

Talked with Thedi a little bit, but he doesn't seem to want to do loose fitting jacket, but I'm waiting to hear his response.

My budget would be around 2k euros, what would be the highest quality brand that could make a jacket like this?

Thanks in advance

I am located in Denmark

What is double helix quality compared to thedi
Probably not as refined, though I've not had a Thedi. They are not on the same artistic level.
They have nice materials and stitching though.

The term “highest quality brand” does not describe a thing that actually exists in the leather jacket game. There are too many variables. Also, not to be rude but since you don’t seem to be aware of those variables they may be wasted on you. All you’ll get is a jacket that some strangers say is good. You can spend a month on here reaching the end of the internet or just buy one that looks good from a brand that seems reputable.

Thedi won´t do a blousy fit.

Have you spoken to Aero re handwarmer pockets. They are peculiar with some chances, but handwarmers are a rather minor change, so it wouldn´t hurt to ask. Same with Simmons Bilt.

Vanson would be something to check out as well (the "Maverick").

If alls else fails, Johnson Leathers are always a safe bet.

None of them is "THE BEST", all of them are solid.

I live in Denmark, and shipping from San Francisco seems expensive. In terms of Johnson leathers.

I was thinking that maybe, if I gave Thedi some bigger measurements than my actual measurements, it would come out closer what I want?
Thedi's works seem so nice, I really want some of his, so I was hoping this would work, or maybe asking him if he can make it so I can layer a sweater underneath?

Do you have any advise in terms of sizing like that, or is it a complete no-go?

Aero absolutely won't do hand warmers on their type 3 truckers, because that design is from the 70's, and they draw their line at designs from the 60's, I think. I tried texting them and they refused. Many others here have had the same experience...

Thank you for the advise

Rugged West are also in Europe, do a Type III and would probably add hand warmer pockets if you insisted.

You could also buy an Aero and a pair of gloves. Hand warmer pockets ruin the lines of the design and aren’t particularly functional anyway. They are synonymous with the declining quality of denim jackets (Lee, Levi’s and Wrangler) in the early 80s.

I can confirm that we do stand by our opinion that handwarmers ruin the looks of the Type 3. We have gone to a lot of effort to ensure our version is as accurate as possible , using original early jackets for our patterns . ( the correct blousey cropped fit, not the slim elongated "modern" fit )

The introduction of handwarmers in 1984 by Levis is way beyond the era of our range.

IMHO we make the best Type 3 repro out there

Not worth the try IMO. You're very likely to either give him wrong measurements that will end in a bad fitting jacket for most people or he might "correct" them and end up with a jacket that doesn't fit you but fits someone bigger.

maybe asking him if he can make it so I can layer a sweater underneath?
I think this would be a better option.

Well I don't care about how "accurate" to a time period a jacket is, I care about the quality and the comfort. I don't think it ruins the look, it just makes the jacket more comfortable.
There is no reason for you to refuse to add hand warmers, just because the design 60 years ago didn't have them but the one a little later did.
I bet you would be willing to add hand warmer pockets if Levi's never added hand warmers to their design ever.

I'm sorry if I read as mad in this text, I had just been so excited thinking I could get this jacket from Aero, saving up my money and stupidly thinking that hand warmer pockets was such a small changes, that a company so great as Aero must be able to add it in, but then I email you and find out you refuse to do it, and for such a dumb reason as well.

And yes, your blousy fit of this jacket DOES look like the best version of this type of jacket, which just makes it even more of a shame that you won't make such a small change, because of an "arbitrary" boundary that you've set, even though so many people want it.

Thank you for the reply, I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound mean. I hope you have a great day!

Wow, that's an attitude. Take it easier. There are many makers out there, I bet one of them would add the pockets.

Actually, the pockets definitely ruin the look. I’ve got some denim ones that I never wear because of the pockets. They bulge out and ruin the shape exactly where it’s supposed to be slim. I specifically ordered my Rugged West trucker jacket without pockets. They would have come with them as standard. I’ve got a few jackets with pockets, but I don’t find them any more comfortable.

Sounds like you need to go with Johnson Leathers, regardless of the price. If you want something so specific, custom is the only way to go.

It's frustrating that some maker won't take a special request, but it's their shop... Their rules (The customer may "Always be right," but you obviously aren't the intended customer.)
