Every so often you unexpectedly find one of your Grail hats. I just received this Hückel Superior in today. Behind the hatband was the ad below, attached, folded to resize the hat. Per @mayserwegener , as I had hoped, it's a pre-war JHS. This would be the top of the line mass-produced hat most frequently worn by the Jewish community throughout pre-war Europe (I think most may have been locally made by hatmakers in it near the communities). Before Borsalino gained its popularity, post-war, in the States. This was likely THE Jewish black hat.

The ad, for a Austrian pram-seller, is likely from the 1930's based on the phone exchanges used.

Jeff, Again Super find! It has a Type - 4 Paper Label. The CM size was added to the paper labels in the 1930s. The FP 5 1/2 is the Block Size.

As I mentioned Mauerer Wien is a famous Vienna Hat store that is still in business. I have a number of JHS hats sold by Mauerer Wien.

A. Breiter München, der hutmacher am Dom. I really like this color brown red and the purple lining! Don't know anything about the age, but i think it's not that old. Maybe Steve @mayserwegener does know? Bought this one for 4 euro, so a real bargain.

Marcel, Great looking hat! Possibly 1990s but could be a little later. I know Breiter is currently making women's hats but I have no proof of past men's hat production. I believe it was made by R. & M. Wegener. Here you can see a similar era R. & M. Wegener. The construction and wording is typical of R. & M. Wegener.

Thanks Steve. My suggestion was 90's too because of the label. 2 90 maybe suggests february 1990? Who knows?
