Took my chances with a vtg Johnson Leather CHP on ebay.

This thing is a monster, over 10 lbs heavy, yet very comfortable and most importantly very practical in design - it has three insode pockets, two outside, all leather lined.

It runs larger than what I usually wear, 21“ shoulders instead of the 19.5“ I usually shoot for and it is very long for a CHP - maybe originally made for a taller man, though the sleeves make me doubt it. I dont mind either, I call this the „Twin Peaks“ fit - I recently rewatched that show and James wears a moto jacket atleast one size too large, so.. Twin Peaks fit. :D

I would have thought this fit looked familiar but had trouble placing it. It does indeed look like James from Twin Peaks lol

It most certainly is a late 80s or early 90s take on the CHP style too, it is the old vtg JL label and the entire beasts dimensions are way off from a 50s MC style; it is atleast 2“ longer than any Cal I ever handled and has this 80s/90s wide shoulder design.. the pit to pit is <21.5“ inch, so this is a size 40-42 with crazy wide shoulders by design, not me oversizing by 5 sizes.. :D so the design period also puts it very fitting into Twin Peaks territory.

Looks good brother!

On a side note, it's funny how you envision people being older based simply on their avatars. I didn't know you were so young, LOL. I guess for that matter, people think Im a leather jacket wearing Siamese cat.

None. Too hot for even surprisingly decent Cockpit fabric Pseudo A-2
Despite the high heat I bought two leather jackets in the last week LOL, two Schotts.

Even though both are superb and lightweight, 75 degrees and up is just too warm for any leather outerwear. It was about 58 degrees at around 3 am this morning, so if you were out walking your dog then, perhaps...

The two new jackets are a 246 and a 546, a style Schott calls "Delivery" jackets. The black one is lamb and the brown is cowhide. Both are complete opposites of the FQHH Aeros I had for many years and just sold on TFL. I am getting old, have joint/shoulder issues, so I just cannot comfortably wear 5.5+ pound leather jackets any more. These clocked in at about 3.1 lbs and 3.3.lbs, about half what my Aeros weighed. I am quite excited to wear them outside in about 3 months LOL.

Both are OTR as I was just not willing to deal with the back and forth of an overseas manufacturer for measurements, shipping/costs, etc. I live close to the Schott NYC store so I walked in and tried on a bunch of jackets. Their store is massive and they have some fantastic pieces for sure. The x46 style fits my body shape (the much reduced 2026 version) perfectly, so I bought two of the same style, but different hides/colors. The staff is super patient and friendly/easy to work with, and going in there is a dream for leather jacket enthusiasts.

I do still love Aero, and if back in Scotland will stop by and check out their wares at some point. For now I just wanted lighterweight pieces, with a simple purchase process. I should mention Schott does have lots of midweight/heavyweight HH, cow, etc, so if you want different options check out their site or store if in the area.

The suede trucker on the left is about 7 years old from Reiss, who happens to also make some very nice leather jackets.

This forum really is dead, huh? Used to have a dozen pictures a day here…

Here in the UK, and probably across a chunk of Europe, it's been far too hot for jackets recently.

I haven't worn a jacket at all for weeks, except lightweight textile riding jackets when I'm on the bike - which I have posted here before but aren't really going to be of interest to most.

It's going to hit 30°C again here by the weekend, so jackets will have to wait!

Yeah, the only jacket I've been wearing for the last month is a rain jacket to keep the mosquitoes off!
