Iron Heart IHJ-54 Horsehide Moto

Hello friends,

Hoping for some experience with the IHJ-54 sizing compared to other jackets. I tried one on last week in size 42 and it fit just about perfect. So my big question is - are there other models from other makers that will fit close to the same as the IHJ-54?

For context, I’ve had a hard time finding a good fitting jacket. I’ll probably buy the 54, but was a little disappointed in the silver hardware and the sheen of the leather. Originally I was looking for something in a natural color and perhaps a second one in black with bronze hardware. I am 6”1’”, 180lbs, mildly athletic build, true 32”waist, longish arms. Most jackets I’ve tried are either short armed, or large Waisted, often both.

I can cross reference all the sizing measurements, but in my experience that doesn’t always translate to the perfect fit. I also realize that the jacket has very soft leather so it feels better immediately than other stiffer leathers.

For those of you who have worn the 54, can you recommend other models with similar sizing?

I’m not really interested in a cross-zip. And don’t love jackets that are super cropped.

If you are one of the lucky few that can get anway with IH´s super long sleeves AND fit into the rather slim torso, the jacket is good value, IMO.
Appreciation of oide is so subjective, but I just love the leather IH uses here. Super thick without being restrictive at all. Moist-towel vibes!
Personally, I also love the shine of the leather, but I see where you are coming from. It never really dulled at my jacket too.

Yeah sleeves are crazy on these. I have a sz 40 in the recently released horse suede of this jacket (ihj-155). The suede is buttery luxurious but I’m just not feeling the sleeve length. Perhaps time to move it on.

Thanks guys. As I’ve pondered this the last couple days off and on (been real busy with work) I’ve leaned increasingly toward making the purchase. It just fit so good. Appreciate the comments and encouragements.

The sheen/gloss of the IH horse will definitely fade/dull over time; keep in mind that this is a tea-core leather (brown base coat with black topcoat/dye).

These jackets actually have mixed hardware: the main zip and zipper pulls are nickel ("silver"), but the zipper teeth on the sleeves and pocketing are brass ("bronze"). Zippers are easy (and cheap) to replace...
