Optimo Oxblood Public Enemies Hat sz. 59

Hi All, I'm looking to sell this Oxblood Optimo hat. I bought it in Spring of 2013, and while I've worn it a fair few times, I've long known that, as cool as Johnny Depp looked wearing this shade in Public Enemies, this color just doesn't work for me. I the look, but I don't wear it. It's still in excellent condition

When I purchased it, I wanted to capture the Public Enemies look as closely as I could. I tend to think the block Optimo uses on their Dillinger produces a hat that's too tapered, so I opted to have it made as a Cagney (a style Optimo unfortunately doesn't list anymore) with a black ribbon. The dimensions are:

crown height: 6" / 152mm open crown (best measurement - it could be as low as 5.75")
brim width: 2.5" / 63mm
ribbon width: 2 1/8" / 54mm

The size is listed as 59, but it's really a 59.5. It should fit reasonably well for a slightly roomy 7 3/8 or a tight 7 1/2. It still has my initials embossed on the sweat. The buyer can either ignore them or replace the sweatband (or attempt to remove them himself, I suppose, but that seems a risky option, and I won't answer for the outcome).

This is a pretty unusual offering - a classic Optimo color that's no longer offered in a classic style that is no longer listed on their site. The hat comes shipped in one of Optimo's sturdy hat boxes. Asking price is $550 shipped in CONUS. Paypal f & f please. I will accept returns, minus the cost of shipping both ways.

Why does every cool hat get sold before I was ever interested in hats? lol I would have murdered for this one - my exact size.

Can you still get hat bodies this color, or would something like this have to be custom dyed?

Unfortunately, I think Optimo no longer carries the Oxblood color. My understanding is that the Black Cherry color offered by Winchester (who supplies most of the hatters out there) is a near-perfect match though.

That would be the old Winchester Black Cherry....no longer made. FEPSA makes a clolour they call Black Cherry but it really is just a purple/burgundy colour.....not much black to it. I have had success in dying a custom felt in a close match to the original Black Cherry but it is not easy to do and folks not likely willing to pay the price of my time.

This one? The only one I found was 210g in rabbit - seems awful heavy for a dress hat right?

Hufvud offers something similar- I wonder what they are using?

210 is a western weight, mid range. The FEPSA black cherry is nowhere near the Winchester original. FEPSA is essentially a purple/burgundy colour, very little black is present. Just a the FEPSA Oxblood is a brown.....it is the colour of very dry blood....congealed to a brown....no read present at all. Nice colours if you want a burgundy or a brown hat. But if you are looking for what the name might suggest you will be disappointed. I certainly was.
