I can follow up the homburg above with, what I can only think is, a lord's hat, originally sold in Switzerland. Checking the models from @steur 's list, I do not see the Ta/Eglevo 40 (the 40 handwritten) that appears here, but it is as wonderful as you might think.

Cool find, Jeff. Always happy to see a new model to add to the list. Gorgeous looking hat.

Echter Borsalino homburg in a grey colour called Argento. Model is a new one called Sanvulcan. Size is 59 or 60 depending on which of the labels you choose to believe. Unlined with the bound brim at 6cm and the crown at a generous 12cm at the center dent.
This one is one of the early ones before 1936. I was hoping for a date inside the sweatband (which the German ones often have), but alas. In as good a condition as can be hoped for for a hat this age and being shipped in an envelope! But what a thing.

Thank you, Steve. It's about as good as they come. I would make room for a couple of dozen more of these!

Found this in the wild today, estate sale. Nice condition, zero hint of mothing, super clean liner and band. Only ouchie is a stain on the brim binding. I'm more of a Stetson than Borso guy, so looking for the basic info. When, who, ect.

When did Borso stop labeling size in CM and start using USA sizes? Interesting to still have the sale price sticker on the size tag though. Not a bad buy for $35 back then.

Very nice find. Borsalino used all size labels at the same time really, depending on which market the hat was for. The label underneath the sweatband tells us this is from the 1972-1976 time period. Avorio means ivory, which you had probably figured out yourself already.

I would one day like to find a nice Borsalino from the 30s-50s, either a quality fedora or a homburg - in not less than 7.5 size. I would also like to be struck by lightning while riding a unicorn to Stockholm to pick up my Nobel Prize.

If I had realized this was going to be such an issue I would have refused to consume any nutrients as a child lol.

This hat is tagged 7 1/2”, but measures out closer to 7 3/8” if the doohickey is to be trusted. I’m not going to buy this hat - it’s far above my current pain threshold - but I’m curious what you Borsalino experts can see about it’s quality and era, if you would be so kind as to share. :) Also feel free to comment on the absurdity (or lack thereof) of the list price, or anything else of interest; please and thank you.

Never trust the doohickey they are usually off by one full size unless you have a vintage one. The hat is likely from the 1930's. The price is high (there are many of that vintage sitting for quite awhile at $1000+ prices), but I'm not sure if I'd part with one for much less if I owned one, either.

Well, it has been suggested on this site before that you could consult with the Jivaro people in the Amazon area of Ecuador and Peru. They are known for their headshrinking skills, so who knows what they can do for you. ;)

It's certainly a beautiful hat, in excellent condition and in a difficult to find size. I would say it's later than the thirties though, late forties to early fifties probably, but without the label on view it's tough to say. As for the price, who's to say? New ones go for around $600 these days and I would say this one is worth more than that.

A frustrating find from Goodwill came in today. The frustrating thing is the size 3 1/2 punti size (advertised as 22"). The packaging was also crazy (see first photo).

The rest is outstanding.

A Non Plus Ultra Borsalino G. & Filo. The model is Ecosca in the color Pomice. A beautiful piece. After a period of admiring, I'm afraid it's going up for sale.

new "Beater Borsalino".

The felt on this hat is very lovely. It might be one of the nicest pieces of felt I have personally ever touched. This is the first Borsalino I have ever owned. I'm planning to start learning how to fix hat stuff with this hat. Maybe. What do you guys think?

A great one to start with, but beware, Borsalinos run at least one size small. I know I'm a few sizes smaller than you, but that's one that's going to fit me.
