Got a couple new-to-me Uncle Henry Schrades in yesterday, An 834 and an 897. Didnt really need a second 834 but it was a two knife lot. Im thinking these are from mid to late 90s. Really pleased to see these two are essentially brand new. nice and tight. Dont think either one was ever sharpened

I've always liked Schrade OT's.
The UH line looked better with it's stagalon but I prefer 1095 over the Schrade+ SS blades.

Here's an Old Timer I recently worked on.
It was a liner lock, but with the very strong back spring it was dangerously difficult to close.
I took it apart to eliminate the liner lock and rehandle it in stag, but got one side fitting before realizing I didn't have enough so now it's stag on the pile side and the original Sawcut delrin on the other.

Every time I rewatch Rebel Without A Cause, I get the itch to but an Italian switchblade. As a showy box opener at best, I wouldn’t need great quality. Just something that isn’t junk. Any recommendations?

Edit: left handed would be preferable!

They have a certain elan, don't they? Never owned one, of course, due to being UK based. Years ago I did have an imitation one that when the "blade" flipped out it was actually a comb, which was fun. No need for a comb these last twenty years, though!

Campolin, a true classic, my dad gifted me one in the 80´s during our yearly visit in Bibione..unthinkable today to buy an 8 year old a serious little knife...those were the days, oh well..

This pre war Schrade shadow pen knife ( pen pattern, shadow means no bolsters ) just arrived today and promptly went into my pocket for the week.
Might be a good idea to put Evap-O-Rust on the blades to eliminate the rust before it gets worse. I have had good results with Evap-O-Rust. There are other brands on the market but this one is easy to work with. Just takes a little time.

Most of what you see here is just some corrosion and some dark patina from where there was once red rust.
The few spots of actual red rust seen in this picture have since been carefully removed with some #0000 steel wool.
I don't like using chemical or acidic soaks because most of it wipes out patina leaving an ugly dull grey surface ( especially vinegar) , and you are putting the bone covers at risk too.

Colonial, Imperial, and Ideal made a ton of these.
Hopefully you're storing them away from other knives in case the celluloid starts to go, it'll destroy all steel the released gas touches.

That last one in abalone is nice, it looks like maybe a Salm ?

Yes, they are stored away from other knives.
Every once in a while they come out on a watch chain. The abalone is unmarked
