All this time I thought I had a genuine military issue. Now i'm gonna have to search out a real version. Thanks for the info I appreciate. At least I know more of what to look for now.
Good luck but the fact it is not a military issue does not mean it is not good or you should enjoy the jacket less. It comes from a period where alpha's were still made in the US and are better than the current ones (believe me, I have owned dozens of them both made in the US and China).
If you come across the Replica series Alpha's then don't even hesitate, they are the bees knees

100% civilian but a nice jacket none the less. Had a 90’s service issue N2-B which I sold after finding a civilian version which looked near identical but fitted me better.

Have a replica series Alpha MA-1 version on the go at present, very good condition shell and lining, blown knits for which I have MASH replacements.

I bought my son a Black Alpha Industries MA-1 recently and it is paper thin and next to useless in the cold. The jacket is sent pictures of is super thick and warm in cold weather (although the short back annoys me).I was just hoping i had the real thing. Will probably look for a genuine military version but am happy with the one I have. Thanks for your help.

Does anyone has experience with the sizing of the Alpha Made in USA "Vintage series"?

I had several Alphas in the past, but don't remember the actual model names - just, that some were too short :/
