I like the idea but to me its the type, not the actual number, because what if that exact pants has a broken zipper or has to be washed or jeans need to be mended from loose stitches of hole developing, we always need backup. typically I have 3 item in each category, like 3 heavyweight jeans, 3 corduroy pants, 3 fatigue pants, 3 camo pants, 3 olive green cargo pants, 3 chunky knit sweater, 3 turtleneck, 3 denim jacket, etc.

I like your 3 pair idea. 3 pair blue jeans, 3 pair black jeans, 3 pair Fjallraven trekking trousers, 2 pair of each camouflage pattern ( heavyweight and lightweight) depending on species terrain, and time of year. Mossy oak shadow grass for ducks and field, True Timber strada for woodland, Sitka for elevated. One pair of black wool trousers for formal occasions. 3 flannel shirts, 3 snap front shirts. 3 plain heavyweight t shirts, 3 plain lightweight t shirts, 3 sweatshirts, 3 zip hoodies, 3 graphic t-shirts per theme (airplane, motorcycle etc.

I’m

I’m a Maximus Decimus Arielius, father of a murdered son husband to a murdered wife and I’ll have my next pair of boots before the next life…..
That brought back school memories. Maximus Decimus Meridius was a Roman General who led his legions to many victories. He was favoured by Emperor Marcus Aurelius. He was a good man, an honourable General and was incorruptible. His wife and son were both murdered by Commodus and his village was razed. Political intrigue, nothing ever changes when the lust for power takes hold.

I like this a lot. It’s not just minimal, it’s also pretty ethical in its own way. You’re avoiding fast fashion churn, impulse buys, and piles of stuff that ends up forgotten in the closet. You’re choosing pieces that lastwhich means way less waste over time. It’s like quality over quantity, which is way more sustainable and respectful of the work that goes into making clothes. Plus, having less forces you to really appreciate and care for what you own instead of treating it as disposable. That's the mindset I model my wardrobe around as well.

I have broad interests, ranging from heritage to dressing & modern sportswear. I have been following Carl Muraswki, Stridwise, Almost Vintage, Bootlosophy, He spoke, Kirby Allison, and more. It's just too many to follow and to acquire & wear them.

So I set myself a limit to the absolute minimal:

5 Shoes(including slippers!): Nike Vapor Lite2/ Adidas/Clarks/Edward Green Berkeley/Viberg 2030

5 Pants( dress to Jean): Ralph lauren wool blend/Levis 541/Arcteryx MX/Filson Draftsman Canvas/Prana Zion

5 Jackets(including coats!): Arcteryx/ 67 Naval Officers( replacing w a Suit/Blazer) /WWII Naval/ Aero Vincenza /Schott 613S

I try to keep the minimalist concept through out my other interests so my house won't became a storage place

Shoe us how minimal your wardrobe can be

Definitely not as minimalist as you but I do always have a monthly clean-out where I post everything on secondhand marketplace if I didn't get much wear out of it. My apartment is small and my storage for clothes is pretty limited, so to buy new ones I always let a few things go.

The money I make from sold ones also feed in to getting nicer things, so it feels very good.

Bat it work great in Sri Lanka you don't need more.

I backpacked 4 months in Vietnam, with:
-1 pair of tan chino
-5 tees
-1 buttonfront shirt (blue university stripe)
-1 jacket
-1 flop flop
-underwear, around 5

I hand-washed my clothes every time I showered and hung them to dry in the shower.

I had everything I needed with me for all occasions and was very happy with how little I needed.

I've traveled long term with similar kit, but found a towel and a pair of board shorts to be essential additions. The shorts to wear while the trousers washed/dried and also to sleep in dorm situations, and a small towel because so many places either don't have towels or charge for them.

But after having dengue fever, I added shoes and socks. I don't mess around with mosquitos anymore, especially during dusk and dawn.

My goal is to reduce my overall wardrobe to a minimalist workwear-centered, essentialist style collection. Very little branding, logos, etc., mostly solid neutral colors with primarily navy, olive green, brown, and black pieces.

Here's my plan over the next year for a minimalist wardrobe:

(1) Barbour Zip/Button Sweater Olive/Stone
(1) Old Navy Fairisle Sweater (Navy)

Shirts
(3) Knickerbocker Beefy Oxfords (White/Navy/Green Stripes)
(3) Universal Works Dress Shirts (white)

Overshirts
(1) Vintage Moleskin Chore Coat (French Blue)
(1) Outerknown Blanket Shirt (Flannel Red)

Jackets
(1) Baracuta G9 Suede (Olive)
(1) Barbour Beafort Waxed Jacket (Sage)
(1) Helly Hansen Raincoat (Yellow)
(1) Northface Puffer Coat

Suit Jackets
(1) J. Press Harris Tweed Blazer
(1) Todd Snyder Cashmere Sutton
(1) Todd Snyder Herringbone Sutton

Pants
(2) Duer NoSweat pants
(2) Duer Nustretch pants

Denim
(1) Pure Blue Japan Slub Selvedge Denim
(1) Pure Blue Japan Shashiko Denim

Boots
(1) Viberg Service Boot 2040 Shell Cordovan Black

awesome looks very doable, and I’m going to snag some of those label suggestions.

I admire the intentional approach.

How I would like to have this. I am a cluttered mess and am not keen on selling stuff. I live in a small place and money isn't my strongest suit.

I am sticking with a minimal set of pants 3 and mostly wearing brown denim I like the idea of working around fixed constraints.

My wardrobe planning future
-a good pair of brown engineers really leaning to Raland, Unsung for customs or Clinch Attractions if available.
-Black Jodphurs Clinch
--- Xbxs is a nice alternative if I can't find Clinch
-black denim - indigo denim - trousers -
-etc. ( meaning I dunno )
Hi, if you are still looking for brown engineers from Raland - I will put mine (barely worn) up for sale shortly! Size US 9

I've got quite a high arch as well - could send you measurements if you like? The boots were mto so not a "standard" us9. Let me know!

I’m lucky enough to live by nyc to try things on, this is when I got my feet measured. I’m a 9.5 brannock.

Ah yes, they'll be too short I think. When I measure the inside sole it's 27.4cm long only.

Thanks I saw your eBay post really beautiful boots. If I didn’t get the SS Attractions collaboration ( more or less same color ) I would have jumped on this. Contacted Raland on instagram but didnt pan out on my end.

Man I gotta slim down my closet.

Haha same here! I really wanted these boots to work for me but it's just not my thing I think...
