I wanted a way to store a few jackets and hats in my office, without taking up too much space or creating a sense of clutter. This is what I came up with.

It’s made with Sapele, sometimes called African mahogany. The wood looks so great, it’s almost a shame to hide it behind the jackets.

Nice! I'm envious and impressed--it has a cool industrial/retro vibe. I'm guessing this is a home office setup? My boss would rip my head off if I'd tried that at work!

Moderator, I wonder if it is possible to create a section for this type of post. I have posted several on the subject. Postman 10mm rack would be a nice reference for people who are looking for wonderful ideas to solve their storage challenges. As you know, the rack will get more crowded as time goes by lol.

That's ace! I've been contemplating doing the same ever since I bought a Vanson and it toppled my cheap rack haha.

This is my home office - I've been remote since covid and the setup really works for me.

Dallas weather is ideal for leather jackets from late October through March - I usually keep one handy during the warmer months; the rest are hung in these cotton garment bags, which I label to make it easier to find each jacket. (No I don't have an actual Rockabilly, I developed the design after ordering a Rockafella, which evolved into a completely different order...)

Lovely job. I like the idea of hanging the jackets face on like this - obviously they take up less space, but also nice to see them displayed like that. Nice way to be able to appreciatre them when not being worn.

The "Your Vintage Home" area of TFL is the best place for this sort of thing - interior design, and furniture, both vintage and vintage inspired.

Very nice. How do you apply the labels - are they ordered with your designs on them, or do you create a transfer of sorts? I store my wool in similar suitbags in my wardrobe, and I really need to get some labelling system for those that is clearer than having to ***** around them all to find what I'm after.

I would also like to know this. I have some suits and some jackets I would rather store covered, a little more protected from extra light into my home. I suppose a tee-shirt place could simply apply the design to a white cotton suit bag, just wondering if you have a specific method for getting this done. Thanks.

I was able to purchase some fabric garment bags from a friend in the garment industry in Los Angeles. I bought two cases of 100 bags each. Paid $160 dollars for both cases at friendly prices. These bags have a small plastic window that allows me to see inside. However, the main reason I use the bags is to keep those flying guys away from destroying the wool in some of the jackets. It is so very frustrating to see how those flying guys have damaged some vintage and new jackets. My house is often invaded by those guys who tend to hang out outside enjoying my herb and fruit gardens. In another note, I also have my shoes etc. dog friendly. They, too, have gone Rambo on some new shoes. The latest casualty was a brand-new pair of Alden shell Cordovan boots. Out of all the shoes next to those boots, the pup went for the most expensive.

Pupper has good taste, clearly. I've been lucky with our dogs, both the late Mimi and now Bertie have not been chewers. More of a stroke of luck with Bertie being young and healthy; Mimi, bless her, had spent five, long years on the street before she was rescued, and had to have quite a few teeth pulled before she came to us as they were in such a state. I have however had a couple of lovely pairs of shoes ruined by a carpet beetle a few years ago. Worse than any moth, those things. Ate a huge long hole in a pair of shoes I had made in a place in Beijing that I think is gone now.
