i’m by no means a very big guy, 5’11, 150lbs, my wrists are not big either. is there a style of watch that would work best for me? i’ve always loved watches but never found any that i feel are “me”. i’m definitely a minimalist.

What are you looking for in terms of style? Casual? Dressy? Something in the middle.? What kind of budget do you have?

The most minimalist is to go no watch. Next is to have barely anything there, depending on how “busy” you are willing to go. But go no brand for a real minimalist.

I used to wear a Fossil sundial watch that wasn’t functional, but it was cool. I now go no watch.

i’d definitely say something dressy, something, “timeless” hahah, and something that isn’t crazy flashy

budget wise, pretty open, definitely don’t want to spend any crazy money especially since not sure i’ll wear/like it.

I was thinking of something along the lines of a Max Bill. This beautiful specimen is a hand winding mechanical watch. This one is 34 mm in diameter, perfect for a smaller wrist. I have the 40 mm Chronoscope version. My wrist size is 7-1/4”

yeah those are nice. i’ll look into them. i love the big non cluttered face and small bezel
They actually dress down well too. The Seiko Cocktail Time (SARB 065) is also a good choice, if you can find one. They discontinued the original version and replaced it with the Presage. The only potential downside is the 40 mm size.

i honestly can’t tell too much of difference, do you know just off the top of your head what it would be. they both look very nice.

do you find a leather bracelet to be more comfortable than a metal one? does having to replace the leather make it a hassle?

I think they downgraded the movement a bit on the Presage, but I think it’s still a nice watch. The Max Bill is in a different league though. You can also get 38 mm versions of the Max Bill.

I have a strap changing tool so I like having options. A comfortable metal bracelet will be just as comfortable as a leather strap and will last longer, but it will have a different look. If a watch is available with a bracelet, I will buy it with the bracelet because it’s always more expensive to buy one later and you can always find nice aftermarket leather bands at reasonable prices.

How do you like this vintage Luftwaffe pilots watch guys?

THIS is just beautiful to me. An original Hanhart watch, one of only a few contractors of watches to the German Luftwaffe. Hanhart have produced a modern limited edition of the 1939 version.

Can you repost the pic please as i would really like to see it and it isn’t displaying on my phone thanks

I have warn mechanical watches since my late teens when i found i cant wear electronc watches without draining the batteries ( yes it really is a thing)

My daily wear is a Bremont Supermarine GMT chrono in dark blue but for the retro feel I have two fairly modern christopher wards ( a smaller English brand ) both found on EBay.

I include pictures as one is more city wear in black and white but my real favourite is the Christopher ward MK2 with simulated radium brown lume.

Some of you may be interested that I had a special strap made for the MK2 so that I could wear it over the sleeve of my Irvin flying jacket when I flew open cockpit.

Hope this is of interest with modern options for a retro feel.

In true honesty, Hanhart is my first choice for WWII watches. Sinn is an excellent brand but for vintage replicas, it is easy to make see the appearance of both brands when place next to each other. View attachment 743754

I could Imagine Helmut Sinn might have worn a hanhart, Stowa or Lange himself when he smashed his JU88 in Russia…:)
