Stunning, Steve!"Corona", possibly mid to later 1930s. I don't know what company made this Velour but it could be from a Miesbach source because of the Bavarian colors in the Liner piping. I found this Velour back in 2019.

Joe The Hatter - 144 Rogers Ave
Dark Tan Lightweight Felt
4 1/2 crown as shaped (about 5 1/2 open)
1 5/8 Faded grosgrain ribbon
2 1/4 raw edge brim
Here is the second hat from the hat roulette box. This one is in fact the one that held the most interest for me. But only for a whimsical coincidental connection to me. “Designed and Created” by Joe The Hatter of Brooklyn, NY. OK… so the hat was sold at a store with the same name as me. In addition, the store just so happened to be located at 144 Rogers Ave. As some are aware I once upon a time wrestled professionally as Blare Rogers… “grandson of Nature Boy Buddy Rogers”. So That’s the silly little connection for me and this hat… Joe The Hatter on Rogers Ave. It doesn’t however completely end there though… on the same day I bought this hat, I also came across the most unique piece of Nature Boy Buddy Rogers memorabilia I have seen to date. A Pennsylvania Railroad Good Luck Token commemorating (Na)“TURE BOY BUDDY ROGERS vs KATO”. I believe I was able to match it up with their October 6, 1954 match in Lancaster, PA 10/06 when Buddy Rogers beat Oyama Kato. I knew this would be the perfect adornment for this hat!
The hat has a nice boxy crown and a bunch of character with its sun faded ribbon. I did manage to find under the sweat a dried up and discolored 1950s HCA standardized tag so any mystery is solved on the actual maker even if it oddly was located near the front of the hat. It is unfortunately a bit too large for me. But was easily remedied with a couple felt strips behind the sweat. I originally planned on attaching the token right on to the bow keep but it kinda gives off a hint of “sheriff badge” vibe that way. I found though the token slips nicely behind the ribbon for now. I may attach it more permanently… but I can’t decide if it looks better positioned to the front part of the bow or to the middle/rear of the bow keep. This one I can see being a regular knock around hat for me.

Mark, Thank you!Stunning, Steve!
Thank you so much, Mark. That beauty has ALL the character, Joe!!!! What a phenomenal score, and the token is the magnificent cherry on a VERY rich sundae!!!!

Thank you, Mark. A new selection is coming this week, so different choices next Sunday.Perhaps a smaller selection than usual, Stefan, but no less glorious for that. For me, the two Edgewoods tie for first place, with the Hückel placing second, and the Borsalino third. Wonderful, as always!
Fantastic looking hat, Rob. Great shape and proportions.
Thanks, Luke!Another fine lineup though that Hückel Novo gets my "Stefan Hat of the Week" vote.
Very satisfying to find hats like that, Daniele. You know I'm a sucker for a nice homburg!I continue with the presentation of the very recent hat acquisitions for the second half of 2025.
I've regained my urge to take risks, and something interesting has come along.

A Borsalino Qualità Superiore, size 6 1/2, or 60 centimeters, or 7 1/2 in the US.

I liked the tone-on-tone felt and hatband; it's a known preference of mine.
It's a gray Borsalino in the innumerable color palette articulated by the names of the elements.
View attachment 736661
The color is "Potassio" and there are no indications whatsoever for the hatband, so it's also an element
The hat type is a "Gulaela," sold in Germany. I think I have a few more in this combination...

Thanks for your comments on the Panizza "Foulard."
You all have my compliments on the hats I'm fortunate enough to see every day here in a small valley north of Verona.
It still counts! This was actually YESTERDAY'S wear, which I neglected to post.
Mid-to-late-40s CB 5X.

Glad that the time of the year for velour hats is here again. A beauty, Steve!"Corona", possibly mid to later 1930s. I don't know what company made this Velour but it could be from a Miesbach source because of the Bavarian colors in the Liner piping. I found this Velour back in 2019.

I'm doing my best to satisfy your homburg fascinationVery satisfying to find hats like that, Daniele. You know I'm a sucker for a nice homburg!
Ooh, I'm already curious!I'm doing my best to satisfy your homburg fascination
I have somenthing in your size, not a real lobbia, but some interesting "small size"
Looks good on you. Definitely a keeper, IMHO.I've been wanting a Cavanagh for a while now. This is my first day wearing it.
I got a great deal on this one, but the pictures and info on the seller's site were fairly minimal, so it was a bit of a gamble. I must say, it has greatly exceeded my expectations. Such a nice surprise!
The felt quality is on par with my Stetson Sovereign 20, and the "Cavanagh Edge" seems to be the equivalent to Stetson's "Mode Edge". The brim was much smaller that it seemed in the few pics from the seller's site. I don't generally wear many stingy brims, as they seem to be too formal looking on my head. My Stetson Inwood has been the only one I've held on to for any length of time. I might have passed on this one if I had known how stingy it was, however, I'm really glad I didn't.
I think I may be keeping this one. It seem like it would be nice one on those overcast winter days.
