Aero 46 at a good price, looks in good condition, not sure about the description...
https://ebay.us/m/3nTF2N
The seller has chosen to use an AI written description supplied by eBay. These AI descriptions are largely worthless and tell you nothing about the specific item being sold.
In this case there are absolutely no measurements given for the length of jacket or sleeve, shoulder seam to shoulder seam or pit to pit. These are all particularly important with Aero Leather jackets as this one could’ve been made to an individual’s custom order and it’s not a standard fit.
Also, there’s nothing mentioned about the white marks on the left cuff and upper back. These could be just scuffs and easily removed but equally they could be something more permanent like paint (otherwise why didn’t the seller simply brush the scuffs off the jacket before photographing ?)
For me there are too many red flags with this listing. As the price isn’t anything special, and Aero Leather jackets can be had for much less, I’d want to be getting answers and more info from the seller before deciding whether to place a bid.

Yeah, agreed. I've messaged asking for measurements but had no response... another flag unfortunately

There’s also a suspicious dark mark on the collar, which again looks as if it could be permanent. As it stands I wouldn’t buy this jacket at a quarter of the listing start price.
If it was a really low price it might be worth risking it and taking a chance; because if any of the marks were permanent as they weren’t mentioned and the seller chose to describe the jacket as being in ‘Excellent Condition’ you could open up a case with eBay for it to be returned for a full refund.
eBay’s own definition of Excellent Condition is: ‘Item has been previously worn; however, it is in excellent condition. Any signs of wear should be shown and described in the seller’s listing.’

Hey so this Schott A2 has been offered to me for $140 but what do y'all think? Can the scuff marks be restored by a professional, and does it look legit and good?

A few dumb questions:

1. I see a lot of links to this "fromjapan" site, or yahoo japan, etc. Why are so many high quality jackets shipping from Japan?
2. Do you just buy them the same way you would on eBay, using a credit card? Or is there some special procedure?
3. Is there any way to search these sits by size? I tried using the search function but everything is in Japanese. Is there an English mode?
4. Do you have to pay the tariffs? I'm in the USA.

1- from japan is a proxy service that buyers outside japan can use to purchase goods sold in japan and in most cases not shipped internationally by the original seller, they can also store multiple purchased items and ship them together in a single package.

Yahoo actions japan is like a japan-only ebay auction site, there’s also mercari.jp which is like a japanese grailed or fb marketplace.

2- typically one uses the proxy service to purchase goods and payments can be made with paypal or cc, you make a first payment for the item, they buy it and wait to receive it, then you make a second payment for the international shipping and their fee plus local shipping costs if any were incurred, proxy fee per item can be from ¥500 to 10% of the purchase price depending on the proxy service you use (fromjapan, buyee, world shopping, etc).

3- yes, the proxy services have translators, some of the original listing sites don’t or are difficult to navigate.

4- yes.

There’s a lot to unpack in your questions. They’re not dumb at all. Unfortunately it’s more difficult now to import jackets without paying about 20% extra in fees and tariffs. And unless you’re size 38 or smaller, the selection can be slim. There is an English search function that’s not too bad.

As for the WHY so many posts here are related to various JP listings:
1 . A lot of high quality makers which are valued highly on TFL are from JP. Not surprising that JP 2nd market is the easiest place to find those jackets. Paying half the price of a new Double Helix while also making use of various campaigns, coupons and discounts for a slightly used specimen is great example of a "deal".
2 . JP folks are pretty crazy about made in USA stuff and their 2nd hand market is pretty saturated with Schott, Vanson, Branded Garments and such. No issues finding 200$-300$ Vansons in great shape.
Main caveat? Sizing tends to skew heavy to the 32-38 range as opposed to the more typical US/EU 38-44 range.
