The wrist watch.

Ok, what is the watch most here prefer? For the die hard purests of the 30's and 40's do you wear vintage time pieces? Or do you go with a battery powered modern look-alike?

I have seen a very strong 30's and 40's style revival in men's watches. However they are quite a bit larger in size then the originals. Today I guess men must feel that they have to ******** a school wall clock to their wrists to feel masculine.

I have a few nice wrist watches in my collection. I have to be careful to just have a few of these lovely guys seeing there is another whole world of collecting I could be consumed in!

I have one 1940 Bulova 15 jewel, a 1936 Bulova 14 Jewel and a 1933 Elgin 7 jewel. They keep very good time and if wound up right, could last almost two days long.

If you are one who wants to dress 100% vintage, a classic wrist or pocket watch is a must! Or, if you're just some one who loves good looking watches, they make great conversation pieces.

I'll post some photos of my watches soon, in the mean time, lets see some or hear about some of them.

Cheers,

Root.
My favorite is M6 Bulova Spaceview. A great historical watch from 1966 that provides great time, interest, stimulates conversation. The tuning fork watch! People that notice it are amazed to learn its age. I have other Bulova non- space views and they never stimulate discussion. The sweep second hand, the movement, and internals revealed looks mysterious to most people.

Hi folks,

I recently ordered this eterna off eBay and noticed they are appreciated here:

I’m wondering if the band original or a replacement. If it’s a replacement, does anyone know where I can get a better one?

Thanks!

No, that‘s not an authentic bracelet .

Cheapest way to get your hands on an original one would be the to hunt another Kontiki with one on it as it appears not to be very likely to get a spare-original.
Even if so, a new original replacement strap would cost you more than that whole watch with in your pic.

Otherwise there are not too few aftermarket retailers with a wide range of products, original, strap manufacturers, PRC…,at least here in Europe.

Thanks for your reply. Do you have any suggestions for an aftermarket strap that would suit this?

Super cool model! Love the design and I'm a huge Quartz fan(ever since I got my Citizen AQ 4020-54Y) so that's a real winner in my book! :D

Can't answer your question though sorry.

Cheers!

Only as long as you don’t know what the original looked like.

You might possibly have luck finding something from Seiko, Citizen… of the same era that might fit better
