It's fair to say I'm a RRL fanboy. The stuff is heavily overpriced but I just love the style.

First up are two basic waistcoats. I wear them a lot when going to the office, paired with a pair of raw denim jeans and a dress shirt.

The next one is quite a statement piece. Limited edition, hand painted native American style waistcoat.

I really like the striping on the first waistcoat. It's not in your face, but it does a lot to add visual interest IMO. Of course, the Native American piece is a stunner for sure!

This one is pretty cool, is it custom? How can I get my hands on something like this?

Thanks. Yes, custom. The X150 (black) and octagon leather no longer are available. Plenty of similar options.

You can call Vanson but I noticed you are in SF. I’d walk into JL (Johnson Leathers) with this picture, or whatever you want, and work it out with them. Vanson definitely can do it too and they are great. Pricing should be similar.

Thank you, yes I’m already becoming a regular at JL. I’ll ask them next time. I’m thinking it would be great to have this vest in redwood bainbridge and teacore shinki. Or maybe I’m asking too much :)

Never too much. Never. That sounds cool.

I did explore a Shinki Vanson jacket (J-82) years ago. I almost went with a cool gray. Shoulda done it as I doubt it is possible now. Good old Constantine.

I haven't found anything yet, but I've got the itch to add another vest to my closet.
Hopefully something wool, but I like vests I can wear under a jacket and most vintage stuff I find is either a suit vest or hunting vest.
The search continues.

Better have and don't need, than need and don't have. :)

I just don't like the plain white shrits.

I need a little advice.

A slim-fit poly/viscose classic waist coat, could that be too sweaty?

Depends where and when you wear it. It certainly won't breathe like a natural fibre, though it'll hold less heat in as well than a thick wool or cotton option. Beyond that, it's all subjective to what you ind bearable.

as a stand alone vest, I think it looks a bit too formal, I think something with more rugged material, or with patch pockets or leather pocket welt or shallower V or curved collar looks a bit more fitting as a vest to be worn as is or under workwear type jacket like trucker and field coat or leather jacket

That 1st Schaefer outfitter cattle baron vest was too small, I could just barely wear it buttoned up uncomfortably.

I found another one brand new in the proper size for $40 on Ebay and just received it.

It fits me perfectly, but it's going to be 80°f every day this week and I can't wear it yet.
What a bummer.
