How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Haggling over a Sears Fieldmaster on the bay. It’s a nice jacket but the FM label is certainly a tier or two (maybe 3!) below the Herc label. As such I drew a line in the sand. Waiting to see if the seller will cross it….What’s a brother gotta do for a basic long HB that won’t self destruct?

No idea, but I do remember reading somewhere in the five star thread that it was aniline

Received my Schott brown leather peacoat. It is very fine, great style, great patina...

Except on one point. When i close it with the right side on the left side (which is the way i'm used to close my peacoats), i have a strange bulge appearing between the two rows of buttons.

It seems to be caused by the way the buttons were sewn a little too close to the leather inside edge, so the leather is folded instead of remaning flat as it should

If I close it the other way, (left side on the right side), I don't have this problem.

But annoyed I am !

A little too obsessed maybe ?

I have put it for a short cycle cold water in the washing machine as i found that it is sometimes a good method to flaten unwanted creases and fold of old leather jackets. I doubt this will change much, we shall see...

And as i have sold a jacket this week, i have ordered another gangster jacket with this Schott car coat 523 for 150 €. Less in the "French Connection" style, more "Carlito's Way"...

This jacket has been on eBay for years. I’ve been eyeballing it forever. In my watch list and out at least a dozen times. These longer styles get no love (except from me) so I made what I felt was a very good offer based on the label (Fieldmaster post Hercules era Sears). Coming in cheap, looks to be (mostly) solid. Won’t need as much Botox as the last few old ponies I’ve *rescued (or attempted to).
Could easily be the Google top hit for “basic jacket”

Have the same model in navy-blue HH. Early works from Greg. That pale green Badalassi looks great.

It's definite now. My Gibson & Barnes NASA issued MA-1 jacket should be arriving in 3-4 weeks. All of their jackets are made to order as I was told on the phone. Fortunately, there are no current contracts in production so I should get it on time.

Well, the cold water short cycle washing machine was a good technique !

I have gone from that

To this (photo inverted because of the mirror ) !

I have managed to put the fold back in place when the jacket was soaking wet and it has kept its position as it dried ! The bulge is now way more discreet, almost gone.

I must say that with cold water it has not shrinked at all.

It is now 80% dry after three days. After I will have to clean it with soap saddle and giving him the mink oil treatment, and it will be ready to go for a long time !

It’s hilarious to me how import the FL stamp of approval is for me. There is a huge amount of knowledge here. Heck even just a few members have huge amounts of experience and knowledge. Does FL give out PHDs?
