Well, Captain, I got the Lesco and immediately loved its look. Put it on and almost everything was fine, but tight in the armholes. Moved my arms around and immediately popped the outside threads around the front of one of the armholes! So where do damaged leather jackets go to die? Is it even worth donating? I'm on a losing streak with these online purchases! Too bad because I adored the look of this jacket.

I have one of these. Mine did appear to have distressing but I thought it had been added by a bored leather jacket owner (who knew there might be such a thing?). Anyway, this is now my cycling jacket, I don't really go cycling, but if I did this is the jacket I would wear. I washed out a lot of the top dye/finish using Carlos840's patented technique, it took several runs and the stitching disintegrated around the collar so take care with such folly.

This Californian Calfskin is coming in. Looks to be the same fine leather used on a Sears Topline jacket I own. The most unique leather I have found on a vintage leather jacket.

I have the same jacket in Goatskin x2. A very popular style for California Sportswear, c.1940

Nice one! My GF is Dutch, the directness and honesty can be bracing at times, but it’s actually great to know where you stand! And to be fair I’m rather direct myself, especially for a Brit, so it’s a good fit. For example, when a (now ex gf - though we’re still friends) once half jokingly said to me that I loved my leather jacket more than her, I merely said “of course!”... and I didn’t mean it as an insult! It was after all a super rare reddish tan, horsehide Vanson Ike jacket I’d had from new - what could anyone love more than that? (OK I may have a biased audience here in leather jackets anonymous )...

Ouch, a tough break, but I hope you found/find a new one who likes leather jackets. Or at least who realises there are worse things for a man to be addicted to than leather jackets... my current gf has even tentatively suggested she might want to get a jacket for herself (she keeps trying to borrow one of mine - a quite niche beaten up Crowtree cafe racer), so the gradual brainwashing can work )
