I decided I needed to get away from the negativity and covidiocy, and perhaps against my better judgment, I decided to head off to Barbados. In the weirdest travel itinerary I've ever had, I had to fly through Toronto, Canada to go south to Bridgetown. And my connecting flight isn't for another 12 hours. Since I want to avoid a 14-day quarantine, which would really screw up my vacation plans, I have to stay in the international terminal at Toronto Pearson airport. And no, there aren't any convenient places to rest one's head for an overnight stay.

But fortunately, I brought my SunBody Oak-colored Tear Drop to wear on the Caribbean beaches. It may not be a Mexican sombrero, but it serves well to cover my eyes and block out the terminal lights.

Thanks! Yes, the inside is great-- It's the blue label with a nice soft leather sweatband. In addition to these great colors, I really like the twist on the bow keep, and the triple stitching on the brim binding. I don't know why I sometimes have issues converting iPhone pics to jpgs but I'll try to figure that out and post.

Changing the file extension to jpg manually didn't help, but after going back and auto-enhancing on the iPhone, they imported to my computer with the jpg extension and seem to have uploaded without issue. I don't know why that's the case, but here they are--

I once had a gorgeous Lee Trinity in 7 1/4. I sold it probably 9 years ago because that's too big for me, but what a hat!

All American morning here in Minnesota, USA. A dog soirée in a Lee All American. The felt hue is called buckskin.

Home and sipping coffee wandering the property in a "tan" Lee All American. I am the only owner of this hat sold by Hirsch's Men's Store, Bel Air, MD This was one of the Johnny Phi hats. I was out gathering tomatoes from the garden. The tomato bounty has been giving and appears it will be giving through early September. I have decided that our household is switching to tomato meals to truly appreciate the fresh tomato tastes. Good thing our basil is keeping pace with the tomatoes. On head gear topic; I was sport'n a linen cap during the initial tomato picking. Our windy, overcast mid 70'f (21'C) temps this mid-day are a perfect finish to a long pandemic summer.

I went back with another bowl for the smaller grape tomatoes and switched to a brimmed hat for protection against our mosquitoes. A vintage Mallory Dallas was my choice. Excellent felt on this hat. I speak about the maleability (moldable clay like ability) of felt and this one has a similar in hand feel like the Stetson 7X, 40's Stratoliner DeLuxe, and others. What a great hat for it's price during it's grand offering. This Mallory Dallas is a fun hat to wear. A side note to the hat is that I do make use of the wind cord when I wear the hat down by the lake. Wind gusts can pick-up the best fitting hat and unexpectedly toss it into the drink. I have had several vintage hats have the wind cords snap off in a gust. This hat's wind cord is durable, by my real life experiences.

On my way out to gather tomatoes I walked into the sprinkler that I had set earlier. This blunder found me changing hats. I put the Mallory on a hat block to dry and switched to a vintage Stetson Stratoliner. This is one of the bigger brimmed Strat's, 2.75" inches. The crown felt is close to the Mallory's, but the brim is stiffer.

For the curious, I did not blunder into the sprinkler on my next trip wearing my vintage Stratoliner.

Darn it - your post has me reading about Cornettes and that John Paul II issued a directive that religious Sisters AND Nuns had to wear a distinctive habit (French word for clothes) to set them apart from lay women, and as a sign of their consecration to God. Fashionable in the 1800's. Hat is supposed to resemble horns - really, IMO, that is a bit of a stretch. I suppose I am "more informed than before."

I have not seen a nun, "in real life," wear a Cornette.

I love that colour, Steve. As I mentioned in another thread it definitely has a 30's look to it. Reminds me a bit of my Kami.
Either Wegener was going for that pre-war look post WWII, or it is a pre WWII 30's Wegener, or possibly 40's during the war, hence the lack of a liner.
Wonderful hat whatever its vintage.
