No doubt JL can build an amazing straight-zip CHP, just ask @Psant25 . But Aero, and the TB's fit process also can build a more form-fitting Chips. I think the 2-inch taper would work well for you. TB has got a bunch of leather options too, not just the CXL. Badalassi being my favorite. Since you don't ride, the smaller zips Aero uses are less of an issue, though Dena can square you away if needed. Just a thought. Unlike my LW CHP with all the "biker" accouterments, a simplified CHP is very versatile. Definitely go for it.

But no TB (I once asked TB the weight of their Vanson B the answer I got is they want to me to pay first then they can give me the answer) or Aero or others, JL is only place I would place a custom order.

Why don't you go for a straight zip mc for your 6 oz project? This style looks insanely cool in heavy leather, I always cant stop looking at these old Cal Straight Zips when they come up and much easier and therefore less expensive and less risky first project?

Yes, the 6oz d pocket jacket is mainly use as winter jacket with quilted lining at both body and sleeves, the cross zip type jacket also looks visually heavier than straight zip, that's why it's my idea winter jacket.
If I ever go another straight zipper CHP with JL, it will be spring and fall jacket with heavy satin lining and lighter hide (4oz).

Love mine! Mc500. Only thing different i would do is drop the back yolk to line up with sleeve seam and then need a slightly diff shoulder gusset

I think you have a better leverage to fight #14zip slanted than straight on vertical.

haha , it is perforated motorcycle mask to wear with half face helmet, it has a pair of elastic loops to slide in a filter inside, in my case just half folded 3 ply pocket tissue. it actually broken in and following my nose shape in 3 months of frequent wear, and grains start popping up around the snaps oil pull up leather might show interesting marbling in the future

She has owned this car from new in 2004 and it is in lovely order. Quite "zippy" , 2.2 4 cylinder European GM Opel built.
5C start , 19C max. Warm jacket required , zip sleeves not required.
It was cooler than it looks in the photo.
Untucked T shirt , no dog , same Indian Ocean ( yawn yawn..)

I was surprised at how cool it was at 0530 this morning when Lisl and I went out. I went back in and grabbed my issue Cooper A2 for the short time we were out. I learned after coming back in the airport was reporting 55°F.

Thanks mate. The car lives, funnily enough , out of the sun for the most part , so no paint fade. It is only out from under a car cover while inside the lock up garage when being driven. It now is an "occasional use" car as well which helps. Was always only used on dry days ( which is 270/290+ days per year here.) It now does less K's than my Harley haha...

Youre in Chicago right? Im in Buffalo....my car no matter how well I take care of it will be trashed in 3-4 years. Maybe 5 if Im really on top of washing and protectant. But the snow, salt, and even rain coming in off the lake and picking up pollution from the dying rust belt factories of Ontario and Buffalo will just do crazy things to our vehicles. Pretty sure Chicago is the same thing.

This jacket is a mystery to me. Its not the most unique design in fact its the most common biker style. Its not the most vibrant or unique cordovan or burgundy color. It doesnt have crazy contrast stitching or some crazy colored zips. Yet for some reason I cant help but stare at it every time its posted here and think to myself "I dont know what is about this jacket, but its simply killer."
