My 44 Comet is exactly 22” P2P. Makes me worry that this jacket is a bit smaller than stated. No way I fit into anything smaller.

That vanson I just asked seller hem and shoulder.... pit to pit seems like everyone measures that different. My B 40s were 22.5

Fyi that vanson 42 as discussed by some. Seller got back. shoulder is 19 but hem he said was 18.5.... too slim for me

Also said did not know if comp but was thickest he has had so guessin its COMP

These measurements seem a little odd. Not sure if the seller knows how to measure correctly or is using something like a yardstick.

I agree. I was thinking the hem would be 19.5-20 in this size with that reported p2p. and I would be putting in an offer. I put his response below. If he raced wouldn’t he know the jacket being a vanson should be priced higher. Who knows i guess

Hey there it’s 19 inches across the shoulders on the back and 18.5 across the bottom hem.

As far as the competition weight I’m not sure since info on this model is not readily available. It’s definitely the thickest jacket I’ve ever had though and it’s thicker leather than any full body race suit I’ve ever worn.

I had a 40 B that fit similar to my Comet. Comet without gussets fit snugger. This Vanson “HD” seems patterned off the Comet. I measure mine correctly (I think you do too) and I think this guy is off. I bet his P2P is smaller than stated. This is one of those cases where a photo is required

I would consider this vintage half-belt jacket a good buy at the listing price. Interesting lining (possibly alpaca) and some question about the type of leather used (possibly moose).

Jesus Christ, that Vanson still hasn't been sold!? Why??? It's a deal of a lifetime and this is a unique Vanson jacket, as far as I can tell. Never seen one like it! Doubt that I will, either.

As for the size, that's a 42 and Vanson's 42 is always large. That's a 23" P2P or more.

Idk, pretty sure it is made off the Comet pattern, which I believe has 21" ptp in a size 40, so 22" PTP might be just right.

Comet runs smaller than pretty much every other Vanson jacket. My 44 is spot on 22”. I remeasured last night. This is a snug fit on me but how I like this style. 46 would also work for me. I am 42 in pretty much all my other Vanson. They do have wider chest measurements, like monitor noted.

Edit:: This is all moot if the jacket being sold is not based off a Comet, though I believe it is. I will ask seller for pics.

It's definitely a modified Comet, no question there. The panels are all there, collar is the same, etc.

Thanks for this pic, @JMax. All I know now it'd fit me good. That's not helpful. Mindboggling that it hasn't been sold yet.
