Yeah... but I still like it better all-leather.

Something like that with the appropriate back-protector pocket would make a fantastic Summer riding jacket - the appeal of the leather, with the denim panels to help airflow and reduce temperature.

I mean.... a shearling biker jacket... he is a genius!

The cut of this is very nice - reminds me of a J106 crossbred with a Lewis Monza. I've seen a lot of shearling Perfecto-styles, but not one quite like this before.

I don't think he charges any different amounts. My taking is that's just a blog and he simply can't use it as a commercial site, so no prices there. Again: I think he's one of the most talented makers I have ever seen.

No doubt he is talented. Thanks for the info. For the record, not implying any sort of malpractice, just curious. I tend to try to negotiate haha.

I really like the canvas/leather combo stuff he does - both the shawl collar and the cross zip are pretty flippin' a. Mazing.

I was looking at a store brand cross zip in canvas and leather recently, but passed on it because I didn't have the courage of my convictions. However, judging by what Thedi is producing, clearly I'm cooler than I realised.

Have to agree with the Thedi appreciation here. He manages to achieve a classic look and be genuinely innovative with the design at the same time.

I have one of his classic two pocket cafe racers in black horsehide, which is just awesome. I do sometimes wish I'd pushed the boat out and gone with something a little more exciting, but theres always next time..

I wouldn't bother with negotiating though, he does have set prices, just doesn't have them listed on the blog.

It's interesting to see the Thedi brand evolve over time, from a very 70s / early 80s bike jacket theme to incorporate earlier designs as well. Nice to see a brand doing its own thing rather than the mainstream fashion 'me too' stuff. That's the great thing about the companies we love in our niche, that they are able . willing to do that rather than jsut chase the mass market.

I recently emailed Theo about pricing for 2 different styles of jackets but have not heard back. Sounds like (from another thread here) there are mixed reviews on service and communication. That said, I think he is making some of the most unique and awesome jackets out there.

To negotiate is ALWAYS a good idea!

It's not really done in a lot of Europe and is often considered quite rude, be careful how you do it and who you do it to.
My brother has a Bass guitar online shop and is always complaining about Americans thinking the sticker price doesn't apply to them. Over here if you want something, you pay the asking price, in the USA it's all about "getting a deal".
(unless you are talking cars, houses, etc, or maybe bulk buying, but no one here would try to negotiate on a new jacket! That is seen as an American thing to do.)

Yes, it does depend on who and where and on what item. My wife, from Poland, negotiates everything. And I mean everything, except meals at a restaurant but I am not sure what she does when I am not around lol. To the point that even I feel a bit unsettled. She enjoys it and never takes it personally if she is told to ****** off. True believer in the "it never hurts to ask" and "its not what I spent rather what I saved" maxims.

I always negotiate if I am making custom changes, especially a bunch of them. I do not usually negotiate on the sticker price of these jackets. Though sometimes I hem and haw until the seller offers up a discount on their own. I have also found that when I inquire about the costs of a jacket the seller/maker sometimes immediately offers up a small discount to hook me. Sadly I am weak and it usually works so I try not to ask.

I didn't "negotiate" as in haggle. But when I ordered my 3 Thedi jackets last year, I told him what I was interested in and asked what his price would be. I was happy with what he came back with, which was a good price. No haggling needed.

We talked a lot more about linings, zippers, leather options, and fit. The good stuff. He responded reasonably quickly, except when he was recovering from a motorcycle accident, which was completely understandable, and always in good English. A pleasure to work with such a fine artisan and gentleman as Theodoros.
