Langemark German WW1 cemetery, Yeper Sector, Belgium. During Germany's invasion of France in WWII through Beligium, Adolf Germany's WWII-era leader paid a visit to this cemetery and walked through this gate to pay homage to his comrades who died in the Yeper Sector.

An absolutely beautiful cemetery with incredible nostalgia for British, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand grave sites. I'm think there are about 12,000 graves of Commonwealth servicemen with about 8,400 unmarked. A very close friend of mine (Conraad) gives tours of the Ieper (Yeper) Sector to this day and provided me with access to all relevant sites in 2000. An amazing, memorable and beautiful area to visit if you are ever in Europe.

I have a short story relating to my visit to Tyne Cot in 2000. I traveled to Ieper alone to attend the Zillabeke WWI reenactment event. I was in full AEF uniform during my visit to Tyne Cot. Very impressive it was located in the Pssschendaele battle site area (Part of the 3rd Battle of Ieper). I approached the monument in full gear and ready to pay my respect to those buried there. As I knelt, I noticed a small vase with some poppy's and a small wreath (8" accross) in front of the vase with a card. This was presented to Tyne Cot cemetery by some British school children. offering their prayers for those soldiers who died in that terrible battle. I can't state the content other than to say is was very moving and loving with a small part of the verse 'Poppy's Field" embedded in it. I had never seen anything so sweet and enduring as this and was brought big time to tears. Never have I been affected in this way by anything so beautiful and thoughtful. by those so young I turned and walked out of the cemetery with tears streaming down and had to move to an area where I could find some recovery. What a wonderful and memorable day that was in such a beautiful place of rest. A must visit for those you still remember and cherish.

It is definitely a cool cemetery, and worth the visit.

I think all but one were taken from my car as I was driving through the county. It’s a beautiful place and not what people envision of when they think of California.

This is the only good picture I have ever taken. As beautiful as it is, it didn't capture the real thing. It looked and felt like the entrance to heaven, and the smell of the sea breeze made it seem even more so.
